Elaine and Family,
May God give you the strength and peace to help you through this difficult time. Chuck was a great guy and he will be sadly missed. Take care
Our deepest sympathy Elaine to you and your family. We were away on holidays and just read about Chuck’s passing in the Brooks bulletin. We have many fond memories of the good old Nowsco days. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless.
The world has lost a vibrant, humble, honest and giving man. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Personally I feel that I have lost a good friend and member of the family and I know you feel your loss far deeper than I. If there is anything I can do for you in Arizona, please let me know. Whatever you need done, I would like to do in honor of Chuck.
Elaine and Family:
My deepest condolences. I was at the service today and was deeply moved. I had the pleasure of dealing with Chuck as his bank manager in the mid 1990’s. He came to me with a dream of buying Superior Oilwell, as Lorne put it, with “his last paycheque”. We worked very hard together structuring the deal to fund his purchase of Superior. Later, I got the opportunity to work with Chuck, Lorne and Thereon on the Hitman account. It was my pleasure to recommend Chuck for Entrepreneur of the Year which recognized him for his outstanding qualities as man of vision, integrity and commitment. I will treasure my memories of those times. He made us all better for having known him.
Heartfelt condolences to Marlowe, Verda and family. Praying for you in this time of loss and sorrow….I know our loving God will be your source of strength, comfort and peace through this difficult time.
Our hearts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. Thank God that we have the assurance of meeting our loved ones again
Elaine, Christa, Jenelle, Tiffany & families.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during your tragic time of loss. We will always remember Chuck as an extremely exceptional man, with a very gentle caring soul. Chuck will definitely be missed by all who had the priviledge to know him. Both Paul & I feel very fortunate to have shared a brief moment in Chuck’s life. Our deepest sympathies go out to you, Elaine & family, May God Bless you & Take Care of you, now and in the future. Our prayers are with you.
Elaine and Family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Chuck was an amazing person and someone who impacted me as a child, and young man. I am honoured to have known him and I will never forget his kind heart. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are of you and your family, God Bless!
Dear Marlowe, Verda, Elaine and family;
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to all of you. This is another reminder of the uncertainty of life and the importance of our relationship with Christ. We pray God’s grace upon you as you greave your loss and adjust to life without your very special son , husband, grandpa and brother. Our hearts ache for you.
Our love and prayers,
Bill and Audrey Martin
Elaine and Family:
I came to know Chuck through our mutual friend, Theoren Fleury. It was in this context that I was able to observe firsthand, how very caring and unselfish Chuck was. He was steadfast in his efforts to help Theoren as much as he could through some very difficult periods in his life. Chuck’s obituary in the Calgary Herald is absolutely consistent with the Chuck Matson I observed over all of these years. He was quite simply a terrific person.
Sincere condolences at this difficult time.
Elaine and family, Marlowe & Verda and family.
We are so very sorry for your loss. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time. We have many fond memories of your family at Moose Lake Gospel Camp. We pray that God will be your comfort and strength. God Bless!
Elaine, and girls …. Marlowe & Verda and whole Matson family. We had hoped to with you at the Funeral Service in memory and love for Chuck, Elaine and family. Our prayer is that Chuck’s life will be remembered in much the same manner he and Elaine have extended their lives for many others. I’m incapable of expressing words that would properly describe Chuck’s genuine care for people because of his genuine love and faith in Jesus Christ, the anchor of his life. There are untimely issues of life and death that will never be understood this side of heaven.
Our thoughts & prayer are with all of you at this time. Chuck was a wonderful neighbour at the lake, we always looked forward to the arrival of summer and the chance to talk with Chuck. May God give you all strength and may your memories give you inspiration and courage for each new day.
Our deepest sympathy

To Elaine and family; Marlowe, Verda and family:
I had the honour of going through school with Chuck and have to say he was the nicest and kindest school mate. Chuck always had a smile, a kind word, sometimes a joke to tell and always, always respect for whoever he met. I know all the family will have lots of great memories and please take special care during your time of sorrow. God Bless to all of you,
May the Peace of God … the presence of His Spirit and the knowledge of His Word bring a confidence of the Hope we share in our Faith we commonly share in our Saviour Jesus Christ. We will see you again Chuck!
Elaine,
We were shocked when we heard of the tragic accident that took Chuck’s life. He was a very special man with a great sense of humor. We will never forget the special moments and laughter that we enjoyed together during our small group meetings at the Alliance Church in Brooks. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls. We pray that God will be with you during this difficult time.
Elaine we are so sorry to hear about your loss. We had so many good times with you and Chuck boating at Cutbank.
Chuck could always light up a room with his smile.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I met Chuck several years back on a complaint of damage to his car. I am a Police Officer and was assigned this complaint. As boring and mundane as this type of call is to a Police Officer I can honestly say it was a call that changed my life and outlook on life forever. I didn’t realize it at that time that attending this complaint was truly a gift from God as I met a man that became a good friend, and an inspiration to me. I remember thinking as I pulled up to Chuck and his fancy car, here we go, another rich guy wanting to complain and whine about the ding in his car. I could have not been more wrong, and totally misread the cover of this book. I was immediately impressed with how he was calm, well spoken, caring and so positive. It was not what I had expected at all. In fact he took a genuine interest in me, my job, my family, my life and he truly cared. He did not just ask me questions for the sake of asking them and to create a conversation. He truly cared and we developed an instant friendship, something I have never done on any of the thousands of complaints I attended in my career. I have no doubt this comes as no surprise to any of you, his family and friends. Over the years I had the pleasure of meeting his family and getting to know his wonderful wife Elaine. He would confide in me about helping his friends and truly caring about the path they were or weren’t taking. It caused him a great deal of pain to see some his friends taking the wrong paths in life. His selflessness always impressed me. I too would confide in him and always felt better about everything after spending time with him.
As Police Officers we are to hold the strongest integrity, honesty and demonstrate compassion throughout our career. I can honestly say that in my 25 years of law enforcement I have never met a man with stronger integrity, honesty and true compassion for his fellow human being. Chuck made me realize, without even trying or preaching, that we all need to be better people and treat each other with kindness, respect and decency each and every day. I always try to remember this no matter how tough a day or how tough a situation may be. He was truly an inspiration to me as a father, husband, sibling, son and a overall human being. If we could all have the gift that Chuck had within him the whole world would live in peace and harmony.
I have never met a man like Chuck Matson and probably never will again. I was truly blessed the day I met Chuck and am so thankful he came into my life and made me realize how wonderful and precious life really is. I only wish I could have spent more time with him than I did but I am grateful for the time I did have with him.
Elaine, my heart goes out to you and all of your family. It has caused me a great deal of pain to lose a friend, I can’t even begin to imagine the pain all of you must be going through. Take pride in knowing that Chuck affected everyone he met in a very positive and loving way and I know I am only one of hundreds of people whose life he touched. Chuck was a gift from God to all of us and even though I didn’t get to spend much time with him in the last couple of years, I will never forget the man he was, and the man I will always aspire to be.

Elaine and family. Marlowe and Verda and family, There are no words to express the sorrow you must be going through at this time. We want you to know our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Chuck, the fun loving guy with the huge smile. Chuck and Lynda loved to bug one another for years. He was always fun to have home at harvest. We pray your faith will get you all through this time of need.
To Elaine and family and Marlow and Verda – What a tragic loss but we know he is with the Lord. I was the delivery nurse when he was born in the Eston Hospital. My prayers and thoughts are with you all as you travel these next days dealing with your grief. God bless you all.
To my other family “The Matson’s”
Remembering back when I grew up with Chuck & family through Sunday School, Moose Lake, Youth Group, dating, Graduation & reunions, I did not know what a “Gem” life was going to polish. Chuck always lived large and in charge. We pray for your peace and comfort as you grieve the loss of Chuck, your Husband, father, grandfather, son and brother as he will truly be missed. I know he was your Hero. I will be unable to travel to be there Saturday but I am sending my hugs and condolences to you all. God’s Blessings.
My deepest sympathies go to all of you in your time of mourning. I met Chuck in recent years through a mutual friend and through the aviation community at Springbank. What a lovely cheerful man he was! May God bless and comfort you all.
Elaine and Family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. I will never forget Chuck’s kind heart and vibrant outgoing personality. From an old high school buddy, I will always remember the days we spent cruising around in his green Super Bee.

Darren let Brad know of your loss. Our hearts ache for you, and our prayers are with you. We know the shock and sorrow of losing a son and brother. It was 5 years in Aug. since we lost our Jay in a plane accident as well. We received a message from Jill Thome who said “I pray that one day you will be able to remember Jay with a smile instead of a tear”. I will never forget that. At the time it seemed impossible but we do now remember him with a smile, and still some days with tears, but we choose to remember the joy that he brought into our lives. Chuck was a person that brought much joy into many lives. Doug loved helping Lorne and Neil harvest, especially when Chuck was there – never a dull moment and lots of laughs.
As Jay would; I believe that Chuck also would want each of you to remember the joy and special moments that you shared together. It is not easy and these coming days will be difficult. We will continue to keep each of you in our prayers – that God will give you strength and peace for each new dawn.
