Obituary of HEALEY – Leona Margaret

March 1, 1925 – September 23, 2010 Leona died peacefully at home in the presence of God and her children, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Tom, Paul (Joni), David (Vicki) of Reno, and Glenna (Jim); her grandchildren, Tuesday (Guilio), Alex, Chris (Bree), Jennifer, Alan, Spencer, Graham, and Isaac; her sister Christine of Toronto; as well as, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and kind friends. Leona was predeceased by her husband Jack. Leona was a 1949 RN graduate from the Grey Nuns’ Hospital in Regina. In Regina she met and married Jack, and they moved to Calgary in 1960. Leona’s gifts of giving, listening and caring were returned to her in friendships throughout her life; and during her month-long illness, family and friends united through phone calls, correspondence, visits and miracles. Each of you held a cherished place in her life and are encouraged to continue your special relationship with our mother through acts of kindness. Our family gives thanks for your love, kindness, support and prayers during this time. We especially appreciate Dr. Scott Wakefield and the Palliative-Care team for their care and guidance throughout Leona’s illness. In her journal Leona writes, “Let us go our separate ways in love but always remain together in spirit. God bless you and peace to you.” Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W.) on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Private Family Graveside Service will follow at a later date.
