Obituary of DENOON – William Stanley

August 19, 1925 – September 9, 2010 It is with sadness we announce that Stan Denoon passed away quietly at his home on Thursday, September 9, 2010. Stanley “Stan” was born on August 19, 1925, in Calgary, the son of George and Sadie (Merriam) Denoon. His father was born in Peterborough, ON and came to Alberta in the late 1880’s to become a pioneer businessman. In 1915, George Denoon Sr., and Vern Parslow started the livestock commission firm of Parslow & Denoon at the Calgary Stockyards. Stan joined the R.C.N.V.R. after high school and remained in the Canadian Service for a short period of time until he joined the firm of Parslow & Denoon. Stan loved the Alberta countryside and the cattle business along with all the people associated with it. Stan also spent twenty-three years with Phyllis helping run “Frontier Candy and Ice Cream” store in Bragg Creek, AB. Stan was a member of the Masonic Order AF and AM (Mother Lodge Renfrew) 32 Degree Mason. As a young man he was active in all sports, including hockey, football and golf. He is a long-standing member of the Calgary Golf and Country Club and always enjoyed playing golf with Phyllis. Stan was an Honourary Lifetime Member of the Calgary Exhibition & Stampede and volunteered his time for many years with the “Courtesy Car Committee”. Stan is predeceased by his sister Beth and her husband Bert Taylor. Stan is survived by his loving wife of thirty-five years, Phyllis, along with his children from his first marriage to Marjorie (deceased), his son George Denoon (deceased), son Norm Denoon and wife Barb, daughter Judy Denoon and partner Shaun McGrath and Phyllis’ children Pam Joslin and Alan LeBrun, as well as Stan and Phyllis’ grandchildren, Nathan LeBrun and Damon James, Amber (Denoon) Wyatt and husband Jeff, Tyler Denoon, Lisa (Denoon) Samuel and husband Kurt, Karley Denoon, Connor Denoon, Clay Denoon and wife Kimberlee, William McGrath and their six great grandchildren. Uncle Stan was also loved by his nephew Bob, nieces Lynda and Susan and their families.
