Obituary of GIVENS – Leo Michael

May 28, 1948 – September 8, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leo Michael Givens, beloved husband of Linda of Calgary, on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the age of 62 years after a long and heroic battle with cancer. Leo’s early days were spent in rural Ontario. Throughout his career, he served as a project manager for various international companies. Next to his family, drag racing was his passion. He also enjoyed sporting events, country drives that ended at the ice cream parlour, barbequing, and Fleetwood Mac. Leo was loved and respected within his many social circles. His Irish charm and sense of humour will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. Besides his loving wife Linda (nee Hymers), Leo is survived by two daughters, Kelly Van Oirschot (Kevin) of Saline, MI and their two children, Allison and Aaron, and Kerrie Hart (Ray) of Calgary, AB and their two children, Ava and Willow. He is also survived by two brothers and a sister, Joseph (Val) of Pittsburgh, PA, Bernie (Judy) of Listowel, ON, and Margaret (Terry) Simpson of Whitby, ON, and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Mary (nee Kelly), and brothers Grant and Paul. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. A Memorial Service will be held in Arthur, ON at a later date. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff and volunteers at the Foothills Country Hospice who made his final journey one of peace, comfort and love.
