Condolences
Irene: My friend, Julie Powell from Regina, emailed me the notice of Harold’s passing. I was so very sorry to hear it and I just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you. From what I remember from the 1950’s, Harold was a really nice man. I now live in Sardis (Chilliwack) and think of you whenever I see a car decal saying “Cherry Motors” as, if I remember correctly, you worked there many years ago. My best to you and your family.
Bev (Willey) Sass

I was so sorry to hear of Harold’s passing. We worked together at Wascana School during his first two years there as principal. It was a great experience, a fun staff with a caring and understanding principal. I recently came across some photos taken at a staff party at your place out at the lake graciously hosted by Harold and Irene. Please accept my sincere condolences Irene, Patti and Leslie in the loss of your dear husband and father. I know he will be greatly missed. Jan Devitt

Please accept our deepest sympathy.
Irene – one of my last memories of Harold was of him picking me up at the airport and bringing me to see you at your new condo. I was on one of my Weekender Conference and Fall Fashion Shows. He later brought you down town to the hotel for the Fashion Show that you attended as my guest.
May the love that surrounds you give you comfort and peace.
God’s Blessing
Joan and Dale
This condolence message comes from one of the thousands of students Mr. Lamers taught over the years in the Regina Public School system. Mr. Lamers was among the first male teachers I had and what a blessing that was as his quiet nature and kind teaching style were a good start to that process. May you rejoice in the happy memories you have of your life together.
Dear Irene & Family:
We were saddened to read of Harold’s passing. Please accept our sincere symmpathy and know that you are in our thoughts at this time. We will always remember the good times we enjoyed with both of you. Harold’s support at school and your friendship was always appreciated.
Sincerely
Don & Norma-Jean Hill

I would like to pass along my condolence’s to Harold’s family. Harold was my Grade 8 teacher at RJ Davidson School in Regina, way back in 1966-67. I remember Harold as quite a stern teacher when he needed to be. We had a somewhat unruly class at times. On one occasion things got a bit out of control when Harold left the room to attend to some business as Principal. When he returned he caught us ‘in the act’, shooting erasers at each other with our BIC pens, which we used as pea shooters. Well, a few of us ring-leaders (myself included) got the strap for that – which was sort of a well-deserved lesson in life I guess. Anyway, no harm done, as I went on to complete high school and university, and later took up the practice of law here in Regina. I attribute my own success to teachers like Harold, who hung in there, despite our antics. As I recall, Harold had a theory that those who did poorly in his class likely were not paying attention, so he moved them to the front of the class. My own marks improved greatly in grade 8, with the result that by the end of the year I was sitting at the back of the class room (and causing more mischief too!). All the best to Harold’s family at this difficult time. He was, indeed, a great teacher.
Irene
Our sincere condolences to you and your family. Our thoughts are with you
