Obituary of SAULNIER – Dominique Vincent
September 20, 1959 – August 15, 2010
The world lost a remarkable man on Sunday, August 15, 2010 when Dominique Vincent Saulnier left this earth at age 50. To know Dom was to love him and to love him was to laugh with him, which he did often. We will miss his laugh. We will miss those deep soulful eyes. We will miss Dominique.
Dom had varied careers – spanning the entertainment industry, from owning a record store (Sounds Good), to the film industry where he was in the accounting department for two seasons of North of 60. Dominique also worked for the federal government, private industry and corporate interests over the years.
Everywhere he went, Dom made friends. He was an extraordinary host, a true gentleman, and a person who took care of others. You never had to ask Dom for help – he was there before you needed it; he had unending patience and compassion and made lives much brighter by being part of them. He breathed life into many occasions and Dominique’s generosity and gentle spirit were the hallmark of his life. He made more than friends – he forged deep and meaningful relationships some of which have endured for decades.
Dominique is survived by his partner of 30 years, Clayton Kaplar, his brothers Frank (Nancy), Bryan and Norman (Rilda), his sisters Marylyn (Steve) and Evadnie (Johnny), and a myriad of people who loved him. He was predeceased by his parents Frances & Leo Saulnier and his brother Stephen. If friends so wish, a memorial tribute may be made to Canadian Mental Health or to the SPCA.
A private gathering was held to honour & celebrate Dominique’s life. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
