Obituary of JOYNER – Walter Edward

July 17, 1931 – July 15, 2010 Ted, as Walter was known to friends and family, passed away just two days before his 79th birthday on Thursday, July 15, 2010, surrounded by his family. Ted was born on July 17, 1931 in Moose Jaw, SK to Lillian and Frank Joyner, the youngest of three children with two older sisters, Thelma and Patricia. As a child and young adult, Ted was a keen swimmer and wrestler as well as an avid golfer and hunter. His interest and love of the latter two activities continued his entire life. Following university Ted took a job in Calgary as an accountant for the oil patch. He met and married Kathleen Bentley before returning to Moose Jaw in 1960 to join the family business. Ted ran “Joyners Department Store”, first with his father Frank and then his wife Kathy, until he closed it and retired in 1993. He and Kathy returned to the Calgary area, moving to Cochrane in 2002. Ted is survived by his two children, Jay and Kelly; and his grandchildren, Lee and Alison.
