Obituary of HOLLOWELL – Deborah Anne

February 1, 1952 – July 8, 2010 Debbie, our amazing and beautiful wife, Mom and friend passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 8th at the age of 58. Debbie was born in Toronto, Ontario and grew up in both Niagara Falls and the Toronto area. She met Fred and they were married on June 8, 1974. They enjoyed 36 beautiful years of marriage together. Our special Mom was a nursery school teacher until she dedicated her life to raising her four children. The family moved to Calgary in 1984. Debbie was so warm and caring to everyone she met that she soon became a very special and integral part of her neighbourhood and community. Deb spent countless hours as a volunteer Mom at Woodbine Elementary School. Her love for volunteering led to her involvement with PALS (Pet Access League Society) as an exceptional team leader. Debbie and Riley shared an unforgettable friendship and regularly visited others in need throughout the past seven years. She truly believed in the gifts that dogs can give “mostly by being themselves.” Our Mom raised us with unconditional love, thoughtful teaching and gentle guidance. In her life and throughout her illness, she gave us the gift of understanding the importance of family. Debbie was overwhelmed by the love and support from close friends and her community over the last four weeks. Even during her illness she continued to make new friends with those who cared for her both at the Rockyview General Hospital and within the Alberta Health Palliative Care team. A special thanks to Dr. Marilyn Basinger. Debbie will be forever missed but always remembered by her husband Fred, children Jennifer (Rod), Laurie, Brett (Vanessa), Sarah and her best “PAL” Riley the dog. Debbie will also be missed dearly by her mother Phyllis Allin and her brother Jim (Joanne) along with numerous other relatives and friends. She is now with her late father, Danny Allin and her brother John Allin. Debbie has touched the lives of so many of us and she made this world a better place. Debbie, we love you and we will all miss you “too much.” A celebration of Debbie’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Debbie’s wish was that if people wanted to make a donation in her name, they could give to the Foothills Country Hospice Society (www.foothillscountryhospice.org) Box 274 Okotoks, Alberta T1S 1A5. In living memory of Debbie Hollowell, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403) 243-8200.
