Obituary
Obituary of CLARE – Frederick Bernard
June 17, 1915 – July 4, 2010
Dad passed away peacefully at the Bow Crest Care Centre at the tender age of 95.
He will always be loved and remembered by his daughter Joan Rouse (John); son Bob (Jan); son-in-law Mike Lemire; his cherished grandchildren, Graeme Rouse (Jessica), Allison Clare (Will Woods), Stuart Clare, and Jamie Lemire; and his special great grandson Harper Rouse. Dad is also survived by his brother Harvey (Robyn); sister-in-law Helen Smith; and many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by our mother Beth; his daughter Elizabeth Lemire; his brother Victor; and his sister Wyn.
Dad was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word, beloved and respected by those who knew him both professionally and socially. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Geology. He worked for Imperial Oil for twenty-nine years and then for Bongard Leslie/Nesbitt Burns until he retired at 76 years young. Dad was also a founding member of St. David’s United Church and was an active volunteer for many charities over the years.
Dad lived a very full and exciting life – fifty-five of them with our mother Beth. They loved spending time with their family and taught us all the value of remaining close. He was known for his prowess with a pool cue, a curling rock, a tennis racquet, and a golf club and was fondly renowned for making his own rules for all of these games. He loved his many years at the Calgary Winter Club and the Earl Grey Golf Club.
