Obituary of LEBERT – Robert Bruce

November 17, 1959 – June 7, 2010 How can you close a great novel when you haven’t read the end of the book? Sadly, we lost Robert, to brain cancer, after a lengthy and arduous battle. Robert was 50 years old and far too young to leave us. Robert was educated at Fanshawe College in broadcast journalism, and at NAIT in business. Robert’s work took him from radio broadcasting to planning and allocations at the United Way and finally to insurance and investments with IAP and DFS. Robert led an authentic life and he was admired for his positive and optimistic attitude, and his zest for life. Because of Rob’s legacy, a new chapter will begin, and two young boys will discover what it takes to become a great man like their father. Rob was an amazingly handsome, caring, and romantic husband, as well as a devoted and attentive father. He lived with the light of thoughtfulness as his compass, always shining toward our family. Rob will be remembered, lovingly, by his wife of sixteen years, Shelley Lebert (nee McKeen); two young sons, Taylor and Brendan Lebert of Calgary; parents, Ronald and Colleen Lebert; sister Julie (Mike) Power; brother Todd (Cheryl) Lebert; and sister Leslie (Mike) Stipic of Windsor, ON; and brother Ken Lebert of Kamloops, BC. Funeral Services will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary) on Monday, June 14, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Hospice Calgary – The Living with Cancer Program, 1245 – 70th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 2X8, Telephone: (403) 263-4525, www.hospicecalgary.com. This program is unique to those diagnosed with a terminal cancer and was a life-saving program for our family and our children. The family would like to give a sincere thank you to the UCW at Southwood United Church for all their kindness and support. In living memory of Robert Lebert, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. CALGARY Telephone: 1-800-661-1599.
