Condolences
Dear Doreen & Family,
I was away when I heard the news of Leo’s passing. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a special man and I know he will be missed by your entire family and friends. Dad was very sad to lose an old friend in Leo, they had many good times together. I will always cherish the times he visited me at the news company and his wonderful bear hug with each greeting. He will always hold a special place in my heart, he will be missed by our entire family.
May God bless all of you during this time of grief!
Brenda

We were so sorry to hear that Leo had passed away. Doreen and family, please accept our condolences. He was a dear friend of our parents – Rick and Kathy Ferrell – they first met in the 1950’s. John and I occasionally visited Leo and Doreen when our family was young and then later when my folks would visit us from Tulsa. The last time, I believe was around 1986, we all shared a wonderful meal at Doreen and Leo’s home.
We will always remember Leo – his humor, generosity of spirit as well as materially (he loaned my folks the down payment for their first home here in Calgary) and his love of big, fast cars. My mom and I used to tease him about aiming his car rather than driving it. I’m sure he held the land speed record from here to Edmonton ! He will be remembered with affection.
Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of Lionel “Leo” Hurtubise. I had the privilege of meeting your dad several years ago, and I was immediately impressed by his sense of humor, kindness and his pride and love for his family. I have known Sandy for close to 20 years or more, and I know how proud she is of her family; at this time, most particularly her dad. This has left a hole in all your hearts, but it is helped just a little by the remembrance of all your amazing memories. I know all of you through her stories, and you’re a strong family who will stand together paying tribute to an amazing husband, father and friend.
I want to send my condolences to Doreen
and their families. I only knew Leo a short time but I feel honored to have
known him. Doreen and family are in my
thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Eleanor Ziebarth.
