Obituary of HURTUBISE – Lionel Leo Joseph

October 31, 1921 – June 6, 2010 Lionel “Leo” Joseph Hurtubise, beloved husband of Doreen of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Leo was born on the family farm in Legal, AB on October 31, 1921, the second youngest of thirteen children born to Almanza and Romeo Hurtubise. He spent his career in the oil patch, working mostly in Alberta, the far north and several years in Australia. Leo is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Doreen; his daughters, Lynelle “Dale” Bozak (Dwight) of Spruce Grove, AB, and Sandra “Cindy” Stoddart of Calgary, AB, his sons, Brad (Lorelei) of Calgary, AB, Lance (Christine) of Calgary, AB, Todd “T.J.” (Ken McLean) of Los Angeles, California, and Troy (Janine) of Morinville, AB; and ten grandchildren, Ryan, Savannah, Luke, Lara, Jessica, Billy, Brianna, Carter, Amanda, and Chad. He is also survived by two sisters, Cecile Page of Edmonton, AB and Rolande Edmonton (Dan) of Edmonton, AB. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Leo’s honour may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at the Newport Harbour Care Centre for their compassion and support during Dad’s brief stay with them.
