Obituary of DEVALL – Michael Thomas

March 8, 1958 – May 22, 2010 Michael Thomas Devall, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by love with his family at his side on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the age of 52 years. Mike was born in Innisfail, AB and moved around Alberta throughout his youth until finally settling in Edmonton in 1972. He graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1981. He married the love of his life, Kelly, on April 30, 1983, after seven years of dating! Mike’s life took on a whole new meaning when his daughter Caitlin was born in 1985 and his son Brennan in 1987. His focus was on being an involved and committed father. He not only accomplished that goal, he exceeded it. His children’s well-being was always his first priority. Mike loved the simple things in life – spending time with family and friends, watching Oilers Hockey, boating in the Shuswap, and walking to Tim Hortons for his cup of coffee. Professionally, he was a man who did his job with honour and integrity and was always willing to help out his colleagues and go the extra mile to get the job done right. He was a perfectionist in everything he did. Mike showed us all that true strength and positive thinking could get you through anything in life. He was an amazing inspiration to his family and friends as he battled through this past year, not once complaining. He made us all proud. Mike is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Kelly; daughter Caitlin; son Brennan; parents, Vernon and Theresa Devall; sisters Brenda (Brian), Shaunna (Dan), Veronica (Tod); brother Trevor; his second family, Alf and Sharon Watters; sisters-in-law, Laurie (Doug), Shannon (Peter), and Tracy; and by nieces and nephews, Avery, Zack, Chloe, Delaney and her Dad Wayne, Leanne, Michael, Kimberly and Ashley. Funeral Services will be held at First Alliance Church (12345 – 40th Street S.E.) on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Written remembrances of Mike would be greatly appreciated by the family and may be brought to the service or forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
