I got to know Doug briefly at an ATB Slow Pitch tournament in recent years. I was impressed with his skills and his great arm. What impressed me the most was the class and high moral standards he displayed on and off the field. As a parent I can only imagine the pain the family must feel. I hope the many great and proud memories they have, will ease that pain, in time.
Paul & Jane and family,
We were very saddened to hear of the loss of your son. They’re aren’t any words that can ease the pain you’re feeling right now, but know that they’re so many people thinking of you during this time. we pray that somehow you can find the strength to get through this. Keep all the good memories close to your heart.
I feel so sad for you, your family and friends. My heart reaches out to you at this time.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I understand how hard this must be, but Doug was a great guy. He was one of the smartest guys I’ve ever known and I was envious of how easily he could understand difficult academic concepts. He was a fantastic denfenceman in hockey and was a goalie’s best friend. You will be missed.
John
If tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I’d walk right up to Heaven
And bring you home again.

We met Doug for the first time just this Spring, and it was immediately apparent what a special person he was – very social and immediately likable – and also how important his relationship with you was. We are so sorry for your loss. You and Jane, Jenny and Austin, and Doug’s mom Carol are in our thoughts and prayers. We wish you all strength in the difficult days ahead, and send you our love.

Paul, Carol and the rest of the family –
We are thinking of you and share your loss of Doug. He was a sweet, gentle young man. The saddest part of this loss is that we will not be able to see how his life turned out as I am sure he would have had a positive effect on many people. I am sure you are reminded of him by everything you see, do and hear. This is the way we are reminded of his presence and memory which will last forever. Please know that we are wishing you all of the support that you will require to deal with this terrible tragedy.

My condolence’s go out to you, your family and every being whom Doug has come in contact with over the years. His passion for the outdoors will be remembered by the trees, rivers, oceans, and all of the seasons of the year. May he now be at rest with the elements of life he so much loved and enjoyed. He has left his mark on this world within the things he cherished so much and I hope that you find peace within these as he once did. May the wind always be at his back and the sun leading his way.
Dear Carol and Paul,
I am so very sorry for your loss. I cannot possibly express sufficiently words of comfort. Please know that I am there for you should you need me.
As ever,
Pat

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I feel very fortunate to have meet him and my heart goes out to his entire family. Uncle Paul, it is clear the way you speak of your children what a special place they hold in your heart. The bond that Doug and yourself had was evident to anyone that saw the two of you together. He was very lucky to have such a loving father as yourself. My thoughts are with you, Aunt Jane, Jenny and Austin during this time.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss of your beloved son. Please remember he will now be your angel who will always be with you watching over your family and friends.
It is times like this that make us reflect on God’s word and his feeling about children.
Mark 10 V. 13
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.
When Jesus saw what was happening he was angry with his disciples. He said to them “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them. For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it. Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.
Paul and family God has a special way of blessing children. Doug is in God’s hands, worry not, he will bless and keep him safe.

Paul & Carol and family: John and I were so saddened to hear this tragic news. We remember watching Doug as he was growing, watching your family head off for weekend trailer trips, the trailer loaded up with all the bikes. I remember how surprised we were when we saw him driving, he was growing up so fast.
Our hearts are broken for you.
