Condolences
Dear Aunt Stella, Norman, Susan, Robert and families,
A kind, tall, generous, and distinguished man are words that would describe my Uncle Jim. Memories as a young girl of the many summers spent together at our cottages on the Big Whiteshell Lake, the many fishing trips with my family and yours, hanging out with cousins Norman and Susan, and watching my Dad and Uncle Jim filet fish-after-fish for hours at the end of an abundant day’s catch; they were like a well-oiled machine, preparing pickerel and pike for long winter feasts. I’ll never forget a patient Uncle Jim who taught me how to swim, even after swimming lessons had failed me.
Now living on Salt Spring Island on the west coast of BC, Brian and I were privileged to spend time with Aunt Stella and Uncle Jim when they stayed in Victoria over several years. It was a treat and privilege to get to know this lovely man once again. He will be missed by so many who loved him. Cherish the memories.
Love from Trisha (Joan) Moroz-Barstead, Brian Barstead, and family Warren, Damien, Aerin, Faevan, & Koah.
Our condolences to the entire family and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
Stella and family, my heartfelt condolences to you and yours. Jim and I worked together at Manalta Coal for many years and he was a great guy and mentor to us younger folks. I will always remember him as the ultimate gentleman. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Kind regards

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Uncle Jim. Words do not express our sadness. He has a special place in my heart. I have fond memories of Uncle at the Big Whiteshell, and his visits to Winnipeg. I remember him requesting me to play the Blue Danube Waltz on the piano and I enjoyed playing this for him. Your spirit is free but you’ll never depart as long as we keep you alive in our hearts. Until we meet again…………..
Love Karen………….
My dearest auntie, cousins and your families: My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very sad time. Douglas, Christina, Jeffrey and I extend our deepest condolences. With love, Joyce.
Very sorry to hear about Jim’s passing. Love and condolences to Barry, Sue and all the family.
We’re so sorry to hear about Mr. Hardie’s passing. Its been a tough hall but now he is at peace and comfortable. You have lots of great memories to hold onto and as the days go by you will reflect on many of them. My fondest memories are those at the Big Whiteshell when Susan and I would anxiously wait the arrival of our dad’s on the weekends so they could take us water skiing. And then there were the times where Susan and I would walk each other halfway home between cottages. We’d spot a bear and go flying back to her place where we had to convince her dad we’d just seen the biggest bear on earth and he simply had to drive me home.He always complied with our requests.
Rest peacefully Mr.Hardie we’ll miss you.
We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Jim. He was a wonderful person to know and will be sadly missed. I have a lot of fond memories of Uncle Jim at the cottage in Big Whiteshell when I was a young boy. He left a lasting impression on me that I will never forget. We all will miss him as he has touched us all in his own special way.
God Bless.
My condolences to the entire family. Upon hearing the sad news I found myself remembering all of the good times I enjoyed with Jim out hunting, camping and at family get togethers. Jim and Stella and the rest of the family made me feel like I was part of the family and I appreciate this very much. I am also remembering just how much I liked Jim, he was a great guy.
My condolences to the entire family for the loss of Jim. Lindsey, Brad and myself have very fond memories of our times camping, sharing dinners and the sense of family that the Hardie family gave each of us. Blessings to each of you in this sad time.
We would like to extend our most heartfelt sympathies on the passing of Uncle Jim. He will be sadly missed. A few summers ago, we were happy that he and Aunt Stella were able to drop over for a visit during their trip to Winnipeg. Uncle Jim always provided interesting conversations. I will always have great memories of spending time at the cottage in Whiteshell during my childhood. We are thinking of all of you at this time.
It was very sad to hear that our very good friend Jim had passed away. It was a Blessing he would not have to experience any more pain and suffering. We will remember the countless good times we enjoyed in his fine company, always a gentleman and ever willing to share his wisdom and willing help. As across the street neighbors we had almost daily contact after he retired, We shared many great trips, fine conversation and meals , great debates about the coal industry and the love of seeing things grow. Jim loved his family and enjoyed their company and we all enjoyed his wonderful Hospitality. God Bless you Dear Friend and neighbor, you will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Our Blessings to Stella and Family.
