Obituary of GUTERSON – George Alexander

February 1, 1930 – March 23, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother and uncle, George Guterson, on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. George was born into a large family of eleven, eight sisters and two brothers, on February 1, 1930 in Drumheller, Alberta. Family was the single most important thing in his life. He told the family numerous times, that if you don’t have family, you don’t have anything. His greatest love was to be surrounded by family. All his nephews and nieces adored him, because he could party with them, listen to them and teach them, but most importantly, have fun with them. George leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Alan Holt; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Carolyn, Tom and Janet, Peter and Colette; grandchildren, Chris (Jen), Catherine (Ken), Steven, David, Derek, Mathew, Kaitlyn, Nicolaas and Gracie; great granddaughter Maya. He is also survived by three sisters, Dolly Patterson, Fran Jacobson and Mary Campbell, as well as a community of cherished friends, extended family and Knights of Columbus. George was predeceased by his wife of fifty-eight years, Phyllis, on March 5, 2007, whom he adored and loved with all his heart. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14 Street S.W.) on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. A private family Graveside Service to follow on a later date at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
