Condolences
Dear family, my father, Menko Gerrit Appelhof, was also born in Zevenhuizen, he’s now 70 years old, son of Jitske Reitsma en Harke Appelhof who lived in Drachten and brother of Bartele Appelhof.
I think Harke was my grandparents and my fathers nephew.
Please accept my condolences.
Sincerely,
Jitske Appelhof
Dearest Family,
I am so sorry for your loss of Harry.
I am happy that I found all of you though, and I do hope that we can meet someday. Menno and I are putting together an Appelhof Family tree that was started by Gerrit Appelhof in The Netherlands in 1965. My Uncle Gilbert Appelhof subsequently began a family study in The States after he met Uncle Gilbert. I would be very happy to send you the books that both men wrote.
Menno lives in the Netherlands, and I live in Michigan. Now distant cousins are working on finding the family together.
I would love to hear from you whenever you have time. We would love to have your family picture and names as we are leaves of the same tree.
Blessings to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Kristin Louise Appelhof
Dear family Appelhof.
Sorry for your loss of Harry.
My niece Kristin Appelhof mentioned the obituary in her e-mail last night.
As we are working on the Appelhof family tree now I copied a letter last week that my parents received from Uncle Jake and Aunt Diane back in 1984 where Harry was also mentioned.
I wish you all the best in this difficult time and may God bless you all.
We are sorry for the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and friend. We knew Harry many years ago in Lethbridge. Harry’s family and my family were intertwined by friendship.
I remember Harry as a soft spoken person.
A fond remembrance of Harry is seeing him sit on the porch of his parent’s home on 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge (where we all grew up). He would play his guitar and ukelele.
May God Bless you all
We saw the obituary in the National Post. We do not know Harry Appelhof, but my parents were good friends of Harke and Jitske Appelhof of Drachten and before that in Zevenhuizen. We assume that Harry was a nephew of my parent’s friends. We sent the obituary on to my family in Holland. Please accept our condolences.

Dear Appelhof family, Anola, and children. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Harry, your dad, and Anola, our mom, got maried in Coaldale. On the wedding day Anola’s brother-in-law was bestman. My husband Herman was an usher. But the bestman got sick and my husband ushered first and then moved to the front of church to be bestman. Harry and Herman used to go boating and water skiiing in Park Lake. Herman has now gone to be with His Lord since 14 years ago, and now Harry is also no longer with us. I am sorry , Anol, that you have to go on by yourself, and for the family to be without their father and grandfather. I have just learned about Harry’s death, and I cannot come up to Calgary at such short notice, I am sorry about that. I am certainly thinking about you and have been since I heard about your loss. May God be with you as you go through the hard task of saying goodbye toi Harry. With love, Riet Scheffer

My heart felt condolences to Harry’s wife and family. I worked at the CBC for 16 years, many of those with Harry. He was a very inspirational man and always a joy to be around. A few years back I met Harry again at Royal Park where I was caregiving. He had not changed in the least, still even tempered and sweet. I know he will be missed by you all. God Bless.
Condolences to Grace Tolley
Dear Grace;
Just a short e-mail message to convey our sympathy to you regarding the death of your brother. We read about it in the paper and although we didn’t know him, he sounds like a wonderful man. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Love,
Aunt Bea

I worked with Harry at CBC Calgary starting in the duplex near the main building before the station went on the air in 1975, and for several years after. He was a lovely, kind, sweet man, and also lots of fun to work with. He was always very proud of his wife and his beautiful children. He was a blessing in my life and I am sure in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a good man. God bless you all.
