Obituary of APPELHOF – Harry

May 5, 1938 – March 7, 2010 Harry Appelhof, beloved husband and best friend to Anola, adored father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the age of 71 years. Harry was born in Zevenhuizen, Groningen, Holland, and immigrated with his family to Canada at the age of 17, settling in the Lethbridge area. It was there he met Anola Shrumm, and they married in 1962. Harry had a successful and rewarding career with CBC in both Winnipeg and Calgary that spanned 25 years. In his lifetime he enjoyed playing the guitar, curling, painting, country music and trips to the mountains. Harry will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anola and his four children; Cheryl (Michael) Crothers, Susan (Blaine) Payne, Beverly (Darryl) Stewart and Kevin (Michaela) Appelhof. Grandpa will be sadly missed by his twelve grandchildren: Siobhan, Meghan and Evan Crothers, Tristan and Calysta Payne, Kyle and Justin Appelhof, Jessica and Kianna Stewart and Cassandra, Paige and Kirah Appelhof. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Tina (Hank) Harbers, Jake (Pauline) Appelhof, Grace (Marvin) Tolley and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service to celebrate Harry’s life will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
