To Rev. Fr. Ron, Mary, Sean, Sharon, Colleen, and Brian’s Family:
We wish to express our condolences on the death of Brian, your beloved son, brother, husband and father. We are truly sorry to hear of his passing. Although he was a very young man when I first met him in the early 70’s when his Dad and I started our teaching careers, Brian struck me as a polite, capable and disciplined individual with an extraordinary work ethic. Even then he had high academic goals and the intellectual prowess to achieve them. Ron and Mary, I know that you and all his loved ones were very proud of him.
May your faith and wonderful memories of Brian help you through this time of sorrow.
Brian and Anne Marie Dwyer
I am deeply saddened by the news of Brian’s passing and wish to offer my sincere and heartfelt condolences. I had the privilege of delivering CMHC ethics sessions, to new employees, with Brian. His sense of good, right and just, his ability to make employees feel comfortable and his good sense of humour, were qualities appreciated by all.
May you find strength in each other during this time of sorrow. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Nancy Powers
Our thoughts and wishes are with you in this time. May it be a time of mourning, but also a time to celebrate the wonderful life of your brother, son and father. May you laugh and cry together as you share your memories and honour Brian’s life. Although we did not meet him, we know of the fine man he was. Thinking of you,
Marianne and Bob Rogers
Our heartiest felt condolences to the Hollohan family. May God bless Brian’s soul and give peace to Paula, Liam, and Evan and rest of the Hollohan family.

I was deeply sorry to hear of the loss of Brian. He was a wonderful colleague and friend. My deepest sympathies to the family.
When I think of Brian, I think of kindness, compassion and intelligence. Always willing to help however he could, answer questions as best he could and always making those around him feel valued and important. Without seemingly trying, Brian taught the lesson of treating others well – always.
He touched more lives than you know and will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Kelly Francis, CMHC

Ron and Mary: Sincere sympathy on the loss of your son Brian. Our prayers are with you. God bless. Irene & Alex Miller, Sydney
Paula, Liam, Evan & the whole Hollohan family. It was with the deepest sorrow that we learned of Brian’s unexpected illness and passing. He touched the lives of many of CMHC’s employees across the country. We considered him as a friend, a scholar, a leader and an example of the perfect gentleman. Working in Market Analysis, I will never forget Brian’s keen intellect and willingness to share his thoughts, right from our first meeting, when he still worked for the Conference Board of Canada. Will always treasure his memory. With great sadness, … Alex.
Paula, Liam and Evan,
I am a colleague of Brian’s with CMHC – I work in the Yellowknife office, but had the pleasure of getting to know Brian over the years during my visits to Calgary and working and learning alongside him in various teams and groups. Brian always brought a sense of humour to the table, but on the other hand was such a calming presence. We always teased him about taking off his shoes in the office, but he insisted he was just not comfortable with his shoes on.
Although I am at a distance, I want you to know that Brian indeed touched many hearts over many miles, and will be sadly missed. He was such a great guy to work with! May you find peace in the memories you have as a family, and stay strong and close together.
Sandra Turner – Yellowknife, NWT
Dear Mary and Ron:
My heart is filled with sorrow for you, Brian’s wife, Paula and their boys. I can only imagine your grief and loss.
I only knew Brian through the pride you felt for him in his accomplishments at university and I know that a child of Mary and Ron Hollohan would surely be a wonderful human being.
I send you my love and sincerest sympathy. Pat….Hughie died on Dec 3, 2009.
Paula and family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Liam, Evan, Uncle Ronald and Aunt Mary, Sean, Sharon, Colleen and all the family on the loss of Brian.

I think of you every day Colleen and hope that you and your family are managing during this difficult time. I know that the shock of your brother’s illness and diagnosis was devastating. I am hopeful that you had some time to connect as a family during his final stages and that you are comforted with many wonderful memories of his life. You were on my mind as I thought about the service today and just trust that you find strength and comfort each day.

Dear Paula and Family,
I worked with Brian briefly while I was at CMHC Market Analysis in Winnipeg. In that time I very much appreciated his warmth and thoughtfulness. He was always a welcome presence in the office (padding around in his stocking feet). I was just sharing recently with others here in Winnipeg who also knew him, and he will be missed. It was always a pleasure to see him when our paths had the opportunity to cross since I left the Winnipeg office. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Dianne Himbeault in Winnipeg

Paula and Family,
Brian was my colleague at CMHC Market Analysis for a number of years. He enjoyed a very collegial relationship with our team. He was such a gentleman. Brian’s sudden departure has left many members of our group feeling very empty. We never got to say goodbye. Many of us will be with you on Monday and others, too far away, will be there in their thoughts and prayers.
I hope you find courage is this time of sorrow.
Richard Goatcher in Edmonton
Brian was the best kind of colleague one could have – respectful and respected, smart and ready to challenge. He was always open to new ideas and really very funny. He may not have intended to become a mentor to me over the years we’ve worked together at CMHC, but that is what he was. The lessons he didn’t realize he was teaching with his wonderful, quirky sense of humour and gentle, compassionate approach will stay with me always. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
May peace be with you.
Dear Paula and family,
We are so so sad on the loss of Brian. Even though we haven’t seen each other for years, we hold the memories of our time together during his PhD years very fondly. He was one of Atipol’s best friends at Carleton and I remember them gleefully plotting soccer strategy in the economics department. There were so many fun times and outings and I remember how happy he was when he met you! I remember Brian as a quiet, kind, intelligent man who loved the simple things in life. I especially remember his fondness for peanut butter on whole wheat. I am sorry we lost touch over the years. I always thought we would see him again.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the boys.
Much love,
Wendy and Atipol
To my wonderful sister-in-law Paula and nephews Liam and Evan: You are so loved by the Hollohan Family, we will always be there for you. You have shown such grace through this difficult time and your love shines through. That is what Brian embodied – grace and love. (Except when we were little and he said Mom and Dad found me on the side of the road and took me in because my real family had too many kids…)
Dear Paula,
I remember the first time I met you in Cape Breton. It was at a family wedding and you came up to me and said, “Hello Aunt Norene, I am Paula and I am going to marry Brian.” I was shocked because I had not met you before and you looked like a little girl to me.
I am glad you married Brian. I loved my nephew and you were a wonderful wife. You gave him two beautiful children and the best life a man could wish for. You made Brian very happy.
My love and prayers are with you Paula and with Liam, Evan, Brian’s parents, Mary and Ron, Brian’s siblings Sean, Sharon and Colleen and all the family.
Now Brian is in Heaven where there is no pain, no suffering and no tears. He will never leave us Paula and he will always be here in spirit to protect you and the boys.
God Bless You.
Paula, Liam and Evan,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to your family at this time. We are thinking of you and hope that you can find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared together.
Love,
Nadine, Kary, Aiden and Oliver Duque
Paula,
We are thinking of you and the boys and praying for you. Bethany sends you her very biggest hug.

Dear Paula and Family,
I worked with Brian at CMHC when I first came to Calgary in 1998. I can’t remember exactly when Brian started working at the CMHC office in Calgary but I think it might have been around that time too.
I will remember him fondly as an extremely intelligent, caring, giving, funny and kind person. He knew how to get things done and people respected him because he was so well spoken and thoughtful. He always worked hard and motivated people around him to do the same.
I know he was devoted to his family and spoke fondly of his children and family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Please accept my sincere condolences. I feel lucky to have worked with Brian. I will think of him when we are biking in Fish Creek Park and I will remember what a wonderful person he was to be with and work with. May his spirit live on in the hearts and minds of those whom he knew and loved.
Dear Paula, Liam Evan & family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. May treasured memories with Brian bring you comfort. God Bless.
love,
Karen, Steve, Jennica, Brooklyn and Brenner
Paula,
Brian was a very special, caring, and kind hearted person. We consider it an honour to have been his friends and to have shared in his life. Please take comfort in the wonderful home and lives you shared together and with the boys. You will remain in our thoughts.
Although we regret that we are not able to join you tomorrow and Monday, we will be travelling to Calgary shortly and hope to be able to have some time with you and the boys so that we may celebrate Brian’s life together.
Steven Friedman and Joni Ganderton
Paula, Liam and Evan: I am so sad. Brian was a great person — a wonderful friend outside of work and a terrific colleague. He was the first person I met when I joined the Conference Board — he had just come back from his honeymoon! I also remember many outside of work activities — especially cross-country skiing — great memories. He was such a trustworthy person — very kind and very honest. I want you all to know how treasured my memories of Brian, and also of Paula, are. Hugs to you all. Brenda Lafleur
Dear Paula
My deepest sympathy to you and your family at your tremendous time of loss.
God Bless you Paula and the Boys

Paula and Family,
We would like to extend our sincere condolences for the lost of Brian. He is now resting in his creator’s arm. Remember him for who he was, a gentle man, a peaceful man, a man willing to give a hand to his family and friends. We will miss him around. Remember that now he is with God and he will be watching over you all. Yes you will miss him around but in your heart will be his resting place. It is hard to see a love one go. It hurts but people say time will heal. After 23 years of losing my father, it still hurts and miss him. Thinking of him helps you to move on forward. He will be there helping you if you ask, trust me, it is my testomony that knows this is the truth. One day, you will all be reunited again in God’s House. Faith is the only key that will support you.
We join with you in your grief, and our prayers are with you all.
May the Lord receive him in his glory.
