Obituary of MACDONALD – D. Lorne

February 24, 1955 – January 14, 2010 MACDONALD, D. LORNE – 54, of Calgary, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 in Foothills Medical Centre. Born in Toronto, he was the eldest son of Dr. Doreen Macdonald of Mississauga, ON, and the late Dr. Frank Macdonald. A professor of English at the University of Calgary, he was a respected scholar of Romantic and Gothic literature. Aside from his mother and stepfather, Peter Zaharuk, he is survived by sisters, Clare (Surinder) Dhiman of Joliet, IL, and Sylvia Macdonald (Layne Francis) of Chester Grant, NS; brother Jock (Susan) of Toronto; nieces, Randeep Dhiman (Adam Kollin) of Cleveland, OH, Kiran Dhiman of Ann Arbour, MI, Sarah (Daniel) Soucy of Toronto, and Tara Dhiman of Joliet; and nephews, Alex (Jessica) Macdonald of Toronto, and Ravinder Dhiman of Joliet. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Husky Oil Great Hall, Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary (2500 University Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at 3:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Stephen’s-on-the-Hill United Church (998 Indian Road, Mississauga, ON) on Saturday, April 24, 2010.
