Condolences
On behalf of the Tretiak family, I extend our condolences to Larry’s family. I always enjoyed Larry’s company as he had such a broad base of knowledge. I could have a conversation with him on almost any topic.

I was sorry to hear of Lawrence’s death. It comes as quite a suprise as his Christmas letter suggested a get together in the New Year.
We both attended Strathmore High Shcool in the early forties, and later, in the later forties, spent four plus years together at the U of C.
Besides the love and respect engendered in his family, he touched the lives of many, many young people as a teacher and leader.
A Mass, special prayers, will be offered for the repose of his soul.

I was greatly saddened to hear of Larry’s stroke and passing away shortly after. Larry was my father’s first cousin. We first met when I was a boy and our family was vacationing in the Calgary area.I remember the wonderful hospitality shown to us by Larry and Martha.Years later when my youngest son came to Calgary in 1999 with a job but nowhere to stay,Larry and Martha put him up in one of their spare rooms and drove him all over Calgary searching for permanent accommodations.Larry was a gentle and thoughtful soul blessed with a sharp mind for detail and an appreciation for good humour.I always looked forward to receiving his Christmas newsletter packed with interesting news of the last year.I know he loved and was very proud of his extended family and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.Our condolences to all his Family. I am greatly saddened to think that my cousin Larry has passed from this life. He shared my enthusiasm for genealogy and we corresponded about our Irish roots and about the KIRKPATRICKS of Finvoy Parish, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland – the childhood location of our mothers.
Larry was a most cheerful man who wrote wonderful letters and always saw the positive side of life. He was going to be the proof reader of my second book about our family. He wrote about this in his letter of December 3, two days before his stroke.
Wayne and I send our heartfelt condolences to Larry’s wonderful family who have shown such care and concern for him.
