Condolences
I wish I could have gotten to know you as a member of my extended family. After reading about your kind heart and wonderful personality, you are someone who will always live on in all of the hearts you touched. God bless you and the family.
Jacquie Vern and Kade my thoughts and prayers are with you, words can`t express your loss. Hold on tight.
Our daughter Daris played against Sash on many occasions. Sash was an amazing skater and hockey player and always dangerous on the ice. She was very exciting to watch. We have no words at all to express our sadness at your loss. Only tears and prayers.
We did not know your precious Daughter,
but our prayers and thoughts are with you at this very sad time.
God bless you all
Leslie, Russell & Cole Jack
Dear Jacquie and family
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. We still have fond memories of you Jacquie, when you stayed at our home in Congress and spent many hours with Dorrell. We never knew Sash, but you being her Mom, we know she had to be wonderful. May happy memories ease your sorrow at this difficult time. Margaret & Glen Kupper
We are so sorry for your loss. Cat’s tribute was very nice and we will always remember Sash as a fun-loving girl.
Dear Jacquie, Vern and Kade, Our very deepest sympathy on this very tragic event. Sash had such a passion for hockey which was evident every time she stepped on the ice. She had a smile that would light up a room! A life ended much too soon.
Our prayers are with you through this very difficult time.
Dear Vern, Jacquie and Kade:
We are so sad and sorry for your loss. Sash was such a vibrant, beautiful young lady who we will always remember zipping around the ice at top speed. We cannot imagine what you are going through but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My heart is saddened by this tragic news. Please know you are in my prayers. May God grant you peace.
Thank you Sash for being such an amazing person. You did nothing but fill the room with joy and sunshine everywhere you went.
The hockey world as we know it will never be the same.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. You will be in our hearts forever.
To family of Sash Hochlander; My Sincerest condelences. I was a classmate and friend of Sash’s when she attended Central Memorial. I can tell you that she was one heck of a person. She left a lasting positive impression on me and I will miss her sense of humour. No better was the constant teasing in social class that Calvin Metcalf and I were twins. I will never forget her as a person who was always positive and could brighten your day no matter what you were going through. Sash was a positve role model as she made the most of life, something for which I will strive to match for as long as I shall exist. My thoughts are with the family and friends during his difficult time.
I never got the chance to play with Sash, only against her, and I really hated to. She was such a talented, hard-working player who never gave up and never backed down. It said a lot about her character and I had a lot of respect for her as a hockey player. Off of the ice, I didn’t know her very well, and yet I can’t stop thinking about her. As GHC was such a close-knit group, I heard such amazing things about her as a person – that she was funny and energetic and a natural leader… someone everyone wanted to be around. She won’t be forgotten. My deepest condolences go out to Sash’s family, her hockey family and everyone who loves her.
I am so sorry about your loss I work at MRU in the cafateria and your daughter was such a nice young lady. I also had the pleasure of watching her play hockey she will be missed. Judy Charlton
Vern and Family,
We just heard the news and cannot imagine what you and your family are going through. Although we did not know her personally, she seemed to be a very special young lady… We will keep Sash and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Our deepest sympathy.
Mark & Patti Spelman (ADP)

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss Vern. As a parent I can’t imagine the pain and sorrow you and your family are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
Words can’t express how saddened I am about Sash’s passing. It’s a shock that someone so young and full of life was taken so soon.
I will never forget Sash’s smile or her infectious laughter or her huge heart. She’s the person that makes you a better person just by knowing her. She could light up any room she walked into and I will never forget my days of playing against her in Midget. Even more so, I will never forget when we were teammates on Team Alberta and then again at Mount Royal.
I can’t imagine the pain that her family is feeling at this time but my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sash will live on in the hearts of everyone that knew her.

With a heavy heart we express our sympathy. To the Hochlander Family,
When I heard the name Sash Hochlander on CTV news last night, I had hoped it was not the hockey girl I had seen play many times for the Bruins, at Team Alberta camps and so on!
I am so sorry to hear it was – when I thought of Sash last night – a hard working, passionate, caring person entered my mind immediately. The entire hockey family is thinking of you, our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Words cannot express how deeply Sash will be missed. We look back at all the great memories our family got to spend with Sash, beginning with meeting her at summer hockey, the years the girls played AAA Midget hockey, Team Alberta and the U-18. The friendship the girls developed will never be forgotten. We always talked about her as “Little Sash” or the “Road Runner” because she was all over the ice. You will be remembered in our hearts forever. Our deepest sympathy.

We are saddened beyond belief to hear of the loss of Sash. Her enthusiasm, work ethic, and leadership made her special and a truly unforgettable young lady. It is heart warming but not surprising to hear that Sash found her calling in working with children with disabilities… a most honorable profession and a testament to her character.
Sash touched the lives of so many people and left us with many fond memories that we will hold close to our heart. When we think of the Minnesota Meltdown, the Burnaby challenge cup, the New Year tournament at Lake Placid, the Labour Day tournament in Vermont and the Edge graduating class of 2006 we will remember Sash. Thank you for sharing her with us all.
Take care of yourselves, we are thinking of you. Whether it be today or a year from today please call on us if there is any way we can help out.
What an honor to have played with such an incredible individual, who only saw the bright side of life. Sash is a young lady that any parent, friend, or teammate would be proud of. My deepest condolences reach out to your family.

Joe and Family; Jacquie and Family:
We are so saddened by the tragic loss of Sash. We will always remember her sweet smile, and gentle ways from when we babysat her. She was quiet and easy going, which made her a pleasure to have in our house. It is sad that every day many people lose a loved one, but when it happens close to home, we realise how precious life really is. We are sending our heartfelt condolences, and as hard as it is right now, we know heaven is a brighter place with that smiling angel you called SASH.
Barry and Dora Mielke

Our thouthts and prayers are with you at this time.
Our prayers and thoughts reach out to Sash’s family at this very difficult time as all are dealing with the loss of a “team mate”. We enjoyed watching this little fire on ice a few years back as the girls played together. She will undoubtedly be missed but know that she has touched so many lives in her short time here on earth. Thank you Sash

Jacquie, Vernon and Kade and extended family, we are so very sorry for the loss of your most precious Sash. Some of our fondest memories of being in the rink was the days with the Bruins with the close knit group of hockey girls. Such precious memories now. Life has thrown your family the worst possible scenario one could imagine. We all have such fond memories of your fun loving, zippy, tenacious hockey player we ever saw in girls hockey. Too fast skating out of this world though. She will be missed and remembered.
In our prayers,

Karen, Rod, Kimberly and Stewart

The Makars
My heart goes out to Sash’s entire family. I can not imagine that happening to anyone, and the sadness that comes upon you all. My thoughts & prayers are with you.
Sash was an extremely energetic and fun loving person. She was extremely talented at hockey and excelled at everything she did. Sash always had a smile on her face. She made it hard to be upset or sad around her since she always knew how to make you smile. Whether it was a night full of scary movies, 2am slurpee runs or 7:00am hockey practices, Sash was outgoing and excited for what was next. Sash will be truly missed by many.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Thank you for being you Sash. You will be missed.
Needless to say I am saddened by the loss of this wonderful young lady. Sash was such a joy to coach and talk to at any time. She truly enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
Sash was a wonderful athlete and an excellent skater.
I have had the honor of coaching Sash at Mount Royal as the team’s skating coach, and it is a true honor to have had the opportunity to meet and experience Sash.
You will always be remembered as a smiling, zipping player, but most of all a wonderful person with a heart of gold!
God Bless You Sash!
We are deeply saddened by your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.
Sash was a vibrant and energetic young girl who grew into a beautiful young lady. We will always remember her that way.
I coached Sash for Team Alberta U18 hockey a few years ago so the news of her passing was very unexpected and it hit me very hard. It shows how fragile and brief life can be and makes me treasure my family and friends even more. Sash was a delightful young lady who always had a smile on her face, was an exceptionally hard worker on and off the ice, and it sounds like she was in the process of achieving her goal of making a positive impact on young children. Although I lost track of her once she left for Vermont, knowing Sash, I believe she must have continued to light up rooms wherever she went. Sash achieved many significant accomplishments and made numerous friends through her participation in athletics and I hope this memory will continue to live on. All of us should take stock of our own lives and try to make a positive difference in a child’s life to celebrate her. I have fond memories of her smile and her “can-do” attitude and will cherish them. To her family – please accept my condolences on her passing. She left us all far too soon.
Our condolences are with you and your family. Sash will be fondly remembered for her love of life, sport and just hanging with friends. She touched many peoples lives, young and old alike. A tragedy such as this brings us all a little closer together, in our vulnerability, words that can’t really express what we feel in our hearts because our hearts are heavy today. Sash lives in all of those who knew her. We are the lucky ones who got to share in her triumphs and victories and hard work and dedication that she put into everything she did. A hug from us to you today and may that hug hold you close together to cherish and remember fondly all that Sash stood for and the beautiful person she grew into.
We will never forget her beautiful smile, her warmth and her sense of humor. Sash spent Easter with us while she and Ashley were at UVM together. Your family welcomed Ashley into your home in Calgary and for this we feel connected to you forever.
God Bless Sash! We love her and will miss her!
The Elder Family
Best of wishes to your family at this difficult time.. Sash was a sweet heart and will be missed by many and never forgotten
Sash, although we never had the chance to meet, I felt like I knew you through the stories told by the rest of the Scarrow and Hochlander clan. As my mother said of you, “she was a sweatheart!”
My heart goes out to you….
In just the short time that I got to know Sash at our preschool, I realised that she was a beautiful person inside and out. She had a lovely rapport with the children and I would like her family to know that she was a daughter to be very proud of.
Sash, look after those little children in heaven. M
Dear Jacquie and Vern,
You all have been in our thoughts constantly throughout the day and we write this with deep sadness. Sash was a great kid and our memory will always be of her beautiful smile. It would be nice to make a donation in her name to a charity of some sort, perhaps related to her chosen career field, so please let us know if you decide to set this up. You must know that the whole female hockey community is reeling with grief. Our sincere condolences, Sue and Glenn Gray
Sash, we knew each other just briefly but I am very glad we did! You were a great girl and awesome to be around. To your family I send my deepest condolences and hope everyone will be okay. – Karl
My deepest sympathy to the family and Eric on the passing of Sash. My prayers and thoughts are you with you in this very difficult time.

I just wanted to let you know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. I remember babysitting Sash when she was very young and lived in Rockglen. A life definitely cut way too short. Take care.
I am so sorry. There are no words that can help. Just know that I am thinking of your family at this time. I just lost my 19 year old daughter in a car crash and I can imagine what you are dealing with now. It is not easy. My prayers are with you.
Within each of our hearts, we have been so saddened. We have been storming the heavens with prayer for Sash and family .
Sash has the brightest spirit I have seen in anyone I’ve ever meet. She was always upbeat and positive, and knew how to make me laugh. We have shared so many fun times together that I will never forget. She was such a good friend to me, and has always been there for me when I needed her. I will always love and respect her for her pure heart and kind nature. Thank you Sash for being such an amazing person, and such a great friend.
Janine
