Obituary of Lena Henrietta JACQUES

October 10, 1927 – December 3, 2009 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lena Jacques. Her family is immensely grateful for the recent years that she lived full of optimism and determination, in spite of her illness. Lena was the fifth of six children born to Arni and Christina Halldorson. She leaves behind her loving husband of over 59 years, Richard; children, Donna, Harold (Julie), Christine (David) Stephure and Robert (Barbara). Lena cherished sharing in the lives of her grandchildren Tim, John, Carolyn, Tricia, Weston and Wade. She met Richard while teaching in the Peace River district of Alberta, not far from the family farm of her childhood. Subsequently, she devoted herself to caring for her family primarily in Calgary, Oklahoma City, Denver and Dallas. In 1986, Dick and Lee returned to Calgary to be close to family and many friends. Lena brought a quiet, welcoming love and sense of spirituality to all her relationships. We wish to express our gratitude on behalf of Lena and her family for the wonderful care provided by Dr. Scot Dowden, nurses and caregivers at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.
