Obituary of NELSON – Irene Mary

July 12, 1944 – November 15, 2009 Irene Mary Nelson, beloved wife of Vernon Nelson of Calgary, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 15, 2009 at the age of 65 years. Born in Olds, Alberta on July 12, 1944, Irene moved with her family to Calgary in 1959. Irene enjoyed many crafts and was an Avid Knitter. Throughout her lifetime, she won many contests and awards for her impeccable knitting. Those of us who knew and loved her, will always remember and wonder, how she could watch TV or Socialize while knitting and never miss a stitch! Irene is survived by her loving husband, Vernon; son, Stephen and daughter, Cathy; her cherished grandchildren, Frankie, Chantelle and Cassidy; brother Glen Rogers; sister, Lila (Ken) Stewart as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Gordon Rogers and her parents, Charles and Mildred Rogers. The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the staff of Unit 47 in the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, for their kindness, compassion and the wonderful care they provided for Irene.
