Obituary of FRIESEN – Eric Arthur

January 31, 1925 – November 6, 2009 Eric Arthur Friesen, beloved husband of Doris, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the age of 84 years. Besides his loving wife of sixty-years Doris, Eric is also survived by his son Colin (Sandra McDougall) and daughter Tina (Gordon Howell); five grandchildren, Eric, David, Lisa, Marie, and Sian. He is also survived by seven siblings, Marie and Menno of Saskatoon, Eva of Vernon, Jack and Omar of Abbotsford, Buno of Seattle and Edward of Montreal, as well as many nieces and nephews. Eric was born in Saskatoon, SK to John C. and Tina Friesen. He grew up in Hague and Rosthern and attended the Rosthern Junior College and the University of Saskatchewan. In Calgary, he worked for the Calgary Board of Education as a high school English teacher. Eric was a long time member of the North Calgary Optimist Club and St. David’s United Church. He enjoyed his retirement and spent many hours volunteering for Meals on Wheels, M.C.C. and the Food Bank. Our family spent many happy days at our Columbia Lake cottage. Eric had a yellow moped that he loved riding around on. Eric’s memory was failing and in January 2009, he moved into the Bethany Care Centre. We will all miss his jokes, friendly disposition and lovely smile. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolence through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
