Obituary of DONNELLY –Marthajane

October 2, 1950 – October 16, 2009 Family and friends of Marthajane Donnelly are deeply saddened to announce her sudden passing on Friday, October 16, 2009 while vacationing in Montreal, QC. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Pat; brothers, Jeff (Sandra), Mark and Tom (Shelley); nieces, Megan, Caitlin (Edinson), Christine, Tegan, Taisha and Tianna; as well as nephews Brian and Mason. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Roberta (2005) and her adored father Jim (May, 2009). Marthajane obtained a Political Science Degree in 1971 as well as a Sociology Degree in 1993, both from the University of Calgary. She was greatly admired for the courage and dignity with which she faced the many challenges of living with Type 1 Diabetes for most of her life, including the partial loss of her vision and the failure of her kidneys. She was the beneficiary of a kidney and pancreas transplant in 2002, for which she remained humbly grateful for the remainder of her life. Marthajane gave back to this wonderful donor program by giving her own organs in the hopes of helping others in need. The family extends their deep appreciation to the many medical professionals involved in her care over the years, including Dr. Bolduc, Dr. Nickerson, Dr. Gili, Dr. Brager, Dr. Beck, Dr. Wyse, and the whole transplant team at the Foothills Hospital. “Don’t take your organs to heaven, because heaven knows we need them here.” A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W.), on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. You may forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
