Condolences
Sorry that I just learned of Owen’s passing. We were friends and business partners for many years. I would like to hear from John Miedema if possible. Have some information that may be of interest to John. Chap Burroughs, Tuscaloosa, AL
I was blessed to work for Owen in 1979-1981 in Denver, Colorado. I remember him as a very fair, caring, oilman with a gift of hospitality and storytelling.
We had a company dinner at his home and Donna was a lovely hostess.
Unfortunately we lost touch over the many years so I was lucky to see your notice in the Denver Post recently.
God’s blessings to you, John and Jim. I will be with you in spirit on Saturday in Calgary.

We share fond memories of Owen, our “bald headed Dutchman”. May the Grace of God keep you through this difficult time.

Owen and I shared a room together for four days, just over three years ago, when I was having a hip replacement & he had his first knee replacement. Donna had recently undergone her brain surgery, and spent many hours in the room with Owen and I and my wife Robin.
We hit if off so well that we visited them in Lake Weldona in Orlando, then golfed at Bay Hill with Owen and Lorna, afterwhich the rest of my family and Donna joined us for a wonderful meal together. We’ve stayed in touch via e-mail off and on since then & saw each other at our milestone check-ups at Dr. MacKenzie’s office regularily.
Owen was an extremely knowledgeable man in so many areas, as well as providing a unique insight on any situation. Of course, Donna’s passing early in 2008 proved very difficult, but he never complained, and always maintained an upbeat tone. We were very fortunate to count the Miedema’s as friends, if only for a brief time. The sun is shining just a little less brightly on the fairways of N. America with Owen’s passing.
Please let John and Jim know if they need help with anything, I know it is difficult Long-distance, so would be more than happy to lend a hand.
Best regards,

Owen was a great friend and one of the most knowlegeable people that I have met. He was a superb geologist , but also spoke 5 languages. I would deliberately “Press” in a golf game to here him sing the French national anthem. We will certainly miss him!
I have many fond memories of your dad when your family lived in Littleton. My sincere sympathy to your entire family.
Owen and I played many golf rounds together at Canyon Meadows and until recently we were partners in the Men’s 4-ball at CM. We also had dinner with Donna and Owen on several occasions.
I was surprised and sorry to hear of Owen’s death. We will all miss him.
On behalf of Oene’s neighbors in our condo association I want to tell you what a good neighbor he was and how he supported our organization. He had a great way of getting to the point and making thigs very clear. We will miss him.
