Although it has been a few years since I have seen Rick and Marvel, I feel honored that we still keep in touch and I will always remember Rick for his genuine kindness and I’ll never forget his playful nature. Although no words can ever alleviate your pain, I know you are consumed with grieving at this sad time, but please remember to take care of yourself Marvel, and know that you are loved. We were all very touched at Tom Baker by how Marvel and Rick stuck together through a very difficult time. They took a series of pieces of bad news and unfortunate events with equanimity, and I admired their strength.

When I was home 3 weeks ago my Dad told me he was not afraid of dying because he knew he was going to heaven and that God would take care of him. His worry was for his beloved wife of 53 years and for his family. I reassured him that God also would be taking care of Mom and all of us too. My dad was one of a kind and loved God and his family more than maybe any of us could have ever realized. Please make his wish come true by continuing to support our Mom Marvel long after the funeral is over and the true grief and loss have set in. My parents were soul mates in the truest sense of the word and I can’t imagine the hole that will be left in my mother’s life and heart from the loss of her “lover” as she always affectionately called him. I love you Mom and Dad and Michele, Mark, Trev, Norman, Sarah, and Stephen as do my beautiful daughters Baaron and Ariel. They miss their Papa so much already. We will get through this all together as Dad would have wanted.

I am a long time friend of Kim’s living in Vancouver. It was not long after I first met Kim some thirty years ago that I also had the good fortune of meeting her amazing family. To this day I remember the loving embrace extended my way from them all. And it is this embrace that I continue to feel to this day.

I am Rick and Marvel’s cousin and was so saddened to hear of his death. Rick was always such a kind man, particularly when my brother’s and sisters and I were growing up.
