Obituary of MADDOCKS – Michael Richard
March 4, 1935 – September 8, 2009
Beloved husband of Barb Maddocks of Calgary passed away on September 8th, 2009 at the age of 74.
Mike was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and attended school in Calgary. Mike and Barb were married in August 1957, then moved to Butte, Montana where he completed an Engineering degree at the Montana School of Mines. Mike and Barb have three children, Jim (Sue) of Calgary, Laura (Mike) of Perth, Australia, and Bob (Kelly) of Rogers, Arkansas. He has ten grandchildren, Fleur, Jennie, Laura, Sean, Pandora, Eric, Toby, Taryn, Scott, Brett and one great grandchild, Rose. He is survived by two sisters Ruth Ferguson (Bob) of Thetis Island and Nan Mossop (Stan) of Victoria, numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike enjoyed working in the oil patch in Calgary, Edmonton, Anchorage and Esbjerg, Denmark for Pan American, Home Oil, Farries Engineering and Maersk Oil retiring in 1993. Mike and Barb traveled extensively on their holidays; their trips included Scotland, Arkansas, Australia, Hawaii, Singapore, Europe and cruising. In retirement, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels for 16 years.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held at St. Laurence Anglican Church, (5940 Lakeview Dr. S.W.), on Saturday, September 12 at 11:00 A.M. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center.
