Condolences
Mavis, Nicola, Amanda and Maureen
We offer our heartfelt condolences on your loss of Dave.
When I first moved to Calgary from Winnipeg as a young CA in 1976, Dave was one of the first people I met and he immediately welcomed me and made me feel at home. That was the way he was many might say but the genuineness of the impression that he made on this young CA who had embarked on a transfer to Calgary with PW was huge and exactly what was needed at the time and is something that I remember to this day.
The opportunities to see Dave in recent years were mostly at PW alumni functions and in the plus 15s but that warmth and caring for others only seemed to grow through the years.
May the memories of Dave provide you with comfort in this difficult time.

Dear Mavis, Amanda , Nicola & Maureen
Elver Olsen phoned us this morning to tell us of Dave’s passing. We want to tell you how very sorry we are. He was such a good friend in our early Calgary days – and we’ll never forget the early Twin and Triplet Club (who could forget that!) the SouthWest Lions Club and all our parties and functions, and the friendship we shared listening to hearty renditons of folk songs – usually around smoky campfires.
We are so sorry that we lost touch with dear friends, and sorry that Dave should pass away in Nanaimo. We wish that we could have been here to help you. We were actually in Red Deer visiting with Jennifer and her family at the time, and just returned home yesterday.
Our deepest sympathy to all. Dave was one of those friendly, dependable guys who will never be forgotten – and I know he will be terribly missed by all of his family, especially.
We stopped at our cabin at Adams Lake on our way home, and we talked about the time Dave was lying on his back at the end of the dock, blissful in the sunshine, unaware that a fish warden was bearing down on him! Happy memories
of a life well lived.
Love,
Jim and Bettyanne
David was always gracious, insightful and a wonderful ambassador for the Calgary Zoo. I enjoyed the times our paths crossed as past Zoo Presidents. I am very sorry to hear of your loss.
Mavis, our Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family.
To the loving family Mr. Hill left behind. I am truly sorry for your great loss, I have many childhood memories of Mr. Hill. Maureen and I have been friends for the past 31 years and recently saw each other at our 20 year high school reunion. I remember very well in grade 3 or 4 Maureen and I did a class project on the Calgary Zoo. Mr. Hill was very helpful and offered much support in helping us complete the project. I also remember many a weekend/afternoon playing at your house in Canyon Meadows and Mr. Hill was always telling us jokes and making us laugh. He was a wonderful man and I pray he is in a much better place. God Bless
We’re both so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. We met him many years ago through the South West Lions Club, and as a happy coincidence Wendy reconnected with him through the Petro-Canada Choir in recent years. Our thoughts go out to Mavis and her family.
