Aunty Darlene, Ryan and Shelley (and everyone!). I am very sorry that Uncle Joe has passed away. What a strong and courageous guy! Truly an insipration! He gave the strongest hugs! I am very sorry for all that he suffered during his battle – and glad he is now free from pain and suffering! This is a terrible time for you all, but it will pass, and soon you will be left with nothing but happy, peaceful memories! He will always be with you guys – the most amazing gaurdian angel you could hope for!

Though we knew Joe but a few short years, we felt as close as family. Shared hours of gardening and chats in the yard were a happy part of our time together.

Though we have moved away, we will always feel a kinship with Darlene and will always be there for her.

We feel a profound sadness at the departure of Joe but we understand that he had valiantly struggled for many years with his illness. His is a huge loss for Calgary and Canada.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Joe. It is a blessing that Joe is now away from his awful pain. Our thoughts and hearts are with you Darlene, and your son Ryan and daughter Shelley and their families. I am happy that I was able to drop in on a surprise visit about 2 years ago. It was nice to see you and was happy to meet you Ryan. I hope that Doreen and I can get to meet you and Shelley and your families soon. I had stayed with Darleen and Joe for 3 weeks in about 1964 when training for Sales Rep for Pella Windows in Calgary. It was real nice to get to know Joe.
