Condolences
Joan, we never met, but I was your nephew, son of Brenda, bob’s sister from Liverpool.
So sorry we didn’t manage to find you
Joan, I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I’ll always remember when you and your mom dropped by my house because you were in the neighbourhood. She was a sweet lady. Please know that our heartfelt condolences go out to you and your family.
Love Charla & Sean
Although we have not seen you for many years, you are missed. I remember you with great fondness.
My love to you and all of your family.
Nephew and Cousin Tom and family.
To my family, I am so heart broken to hear of the death of my Aunt Joan. I will be thinking of you all in the months to come and the difficult times ahead. My fond wishes and love are with you always. Love to all

Dear Joannie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Please accept my warmest thoughts for you and your family at this sad time. With deepest compassion, love and namaste, Myreene
I was so shocked to hear of Joan’s death on returning from the cottage yesterday.
Susan, Paul, Ian and I send our condolences to all the family – especially you Bob. I find words hard to come by at a time like this but I am sure you are all thankful that she is not suffering anymore and are reminiscing about all the good times you had over the years. Joan touched many lives I am sure and I know that she will be sadly missed by all her friends and family – one of them being me and you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
I first met Joan on a cold November morning in 1969. We had just arrived in Canada and were staying with Brian’s Aunty and Uncle in Willowdale until we could move into our new house on Mintwood Drive. That particular morning Susan, Paul, Ian and I went into this coffee shop on Laurel Leaf Plaza for a warm drink and to kill time before school started. I was never so pleased when it turned out the owner Joan, and lady behind the counter, was from Liverpool. Joan told me to drop by for a coffee anytime if I felt homesick or lonely whilst Brian was at work and the children in school. I took many a walk from Mintwood to her shop that first winter and we had many long chats and happy times together – even when she left the shop. Joan was the very first friend I ever made in Canada and we have remained friends ever since. Before Joan and Bob left to live in Calgary I felt we were also part of the Watson family.
Joan was a wonderful friend and it was always a pleasure to be in her company. I was amazed at her energy, tenacity and her love for family. I missed her a lot when she moved to Calgary, but am thankful we did keep in touch with Christmas cards, letters, the odd phone call and visits when she came back to Toronto. My one regret is I never went to Calgary to visit her and Bob.
During her last couple of weeks we must have been together in spirit as I tried phoning her three times but never got an answer. Hopefully she knew I was thinking of her at the very end.
Goodbye Joan, you will never be forgotten.
Edna, Susan, Paul and Ian.
