Condolences
Becca, I was so sorry to find out about your father’s death. I was looking you up on line and came across this website. Your dad sounded like a wonderful, smart and loving father as we both had. My dad died of cancer about 5 years ago and he also worked at bell lebs in n.j. I also remember that we were both adopted which made us have a bond. Remember all of our antics at Stoneleigh sr. year? I remember that you called me last year and I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you. Let’s keep in touch. Sue 1-413-652-8315

I am writing on behalf of my mother, Elsie Young. My mother, who is 90 years old was lucky enough to make David Hogg’s acquaintance in recent years. As the former post-mistress and long-time resident of Vanguard, Saskatchewan David somehow tracked her down in Calgary. She was visited several times by David when he was visiting his daughter in DeWinton. She enjoyed meeting with him and sharing stories of Vanguard and Saskatchewan in general. He also shared his music with her and mailed her CDs of his compositions. She was very sad to hear of his passing.
Denise Oman for Elsie Young
I spent the year 1977-1978 at the NOAA Wave Propagation Laboratory, and got to know Dave quite well. Through this interaction, I learned that he was not only a first rate scientist/ engineer, but a first rate person, as well. He will be missed.
The first time I met him at a conference, he made me feel like a friend and introduced me to his associates at Bell Labs. I was a young scientist then and he made a impression on me as a great listener and educator. I always envied those who had an opportunity to work with him. He was a great man that will be surely missed by all that new him. I send my regards to his family.
It’s never easy letting go of someone you love and who has meant so much to so many.Rest assured he has left quite the legacy through his outstanding work and more importantly his loving family who will continue to celebrate his life in years to come.
