Obituary of SCOTT – John Jack

April 13, 1911 – August 6, 2009 Jack Scott of Calgary passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side on August 6, 2009 at the age of 98 years. Jack was born in Belfast, Ireland and moved to Edmonton in 1912. He later moved to Mayerthorpe where he and Peggy farmed their homestead. Jack served with RCASC until 1945 when he went overseas to serve in England and North West Europe. Upon his return Jack and Peggy raised their family in Red Deer. Jack worked as mechanic for eleven years and continued his career as a service manager for American Motors Canada until retiring in Winnipeg. Jack and Peggy loved to travel and enjoyed telling family and friends stories of their adventures. Jack was always happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. He had a huge heart and the wisdom to give good advice. Jack’s later days were spent at Churchill House in the Colonel Belcher. Dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa will be remembered as a man true to his beliefs. Jack is survived and will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Barb Cox, Ruth Scott, Judy (Rolly) Bilben; his grandchildren Brian Cox, Tracy (Rick) Segboer, Dave (Kelly) Cox, Linda Bilben (Ron), Scott (Ana) Bilben, Kori (Trevor) Bilben-Moraes; as well as great-grandchildren Kelli and Travis Segboer, Sidney and Zachary McMillan, Jai and Jaxon Moraes and Jolie Bilben. He was predeceased by his son John, and by his loving wife Peggy. A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace.
