Obituary of Joseph Peter Foss

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we mourn the passing of Joe on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the age of 86 years. Joe was born in Standard, Alberta on March 30, 1923. After completing his service in the R.C.A.F. he moved to Black Diamond, and a number of years later to Calgary. When he retired as a professional truck driver within the province of Alberta, he had completed over two million accident free miles. He was very active and always cared for other people; volunteering with the Calgary Stampede-promotions stage crew over sixteen years, as well as Meals On Wheels. He was a unique individual person, with a life well lived. Joe is survived by his long time companion Wilmajean Wright; sister Dorothy and her husband Bob Dunlop of Sidney, BC; nieces and nephews, as well as extended family Marlene and Mike Dabbs, Greg and Joan Wright, Murray and Judy Wright, Shann Forrest (Gordon); grandchildren Emily and the Crown Jule Dabbs, Trent, Nicole (David), Kelsey (Tory) Cook and great grandchild Olivia. A celebration of Joe’s life will be held at the Southern Alberta Pioneer Memorial Building (3625 4th Street S.W.) on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
