Obituary of Ronald Ron REMPE

October 8, 1956 – February 18, 2018 Calgary, Alberta Ron Rempe, beloved husband of Janice Rempe, passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 61 years. Ron received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Calgary. He has a Professional Engineering designation in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia, and is the holder of a US Patent. A professional engineer and entrepreneur, Ron founded CALC Engineering Inc. in 1994. His company has grown into a very successful Structural and Civil Engineering company. He was most proud of having his brother and sister working with him. He was an avid collector of fine art and antiques; music; drums and guitars; beer steins; trains and action figures; Persian carpets; scrimshaw; hotel bells; antique scales; flowering cactus; jewelry; cowboy boots; western shirts; automobiles; Dr. Seuss Unorthodox Taxidermy; grandfather clocks and Port. Ron was crazy about hockey, especially watching his children play at Brown University and the Okanagan Hockey Academy. Ron loved to play the drums and have jam sessions with his children Steph, Alley & Matt. He always loved to go on lengthy road trips and adventures which always started with a prayer. But most of all Ron loved life. Ron helped design the iconic roof of the Calgary Saddledome, home of his favourite team the Calgary Flames. Ron was Larger than Life. To have lived well, Laughed often and loved much; To have gained the respect Of intelligent men And the love of children; To have filled a niche And accomplished a task; To have left the world better – Whether by an improved poppy, A perfect poem or a rescued soul; To have appreciated earth’s beauty And not failed to express it; To have looked for the best in others, And to have given the best of yourself. That is achievement. from Robert Louis Stevenson’s “Achievement” Ron is survived by his loving wife Janice, twin daughters Alexandra and Stephanie; son Matthew, parents Irene and Gunter Rempe; brother Dennis (Marcia); sister Nicole (Glenn). Nieces Rachaelle & Rebecca Rempe, Clarissa Stuart, Jennifer Elkins; mother-in-law Betty Dick, father-in-law Peter Dick, sister-in-law Leslie Elkins (David), brother-in-law Brian Dick (Josie), Uncle Manfred and Aunt Erika Sturmer, Cousins Patrick & Oliver Sturmer. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Luke’s Catholic Church 1566 Northmount Drive N.W., on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church.
