Obituary of John LIND

September 14, 2017 – Calgary, AB Dr. John Donald Lind, beloved husband of Loreen Mary Lind (nee McMinn), of Calgary, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 90 years of age. John was born the youngest of four children in Granum, AB, with three older sisters to torment! He was a hard worker, and after completing high school in Vancouver he set his sights on the University of Alberta where he pursued Dentistry. A proud graduate of the Class of 1952, John began a forty five-year practice in downtown Calgary. He loved both dentistry and his patients, many of whom he called acquaintances and close friends. He also served on various boards and committees in his profession over the years. In 1957, John and Rene purchased lakefront property on Lake Windermere, and ‘the cabin’ quickly became a favourite destination for family and friends. John eagerly imparted his love of dirt biking, snow and water skiing to others, and would often entertain his family with tales of bravery – or perhaps stupidity – involving the activities he loved. As retirement drew closer, John and Rene set their sights on the plentiful tennis courts and golf courses of Arizona. They formed many close relationships there, and dearly loved their many friends that wintered together down south. ‘Family man’ is the title that most clearly captures the essence of who John was! His wife, kids and grandkids benefited from his generosity of love, wisdom and resources. Left to grieve John’s passing is his beloved wife of sixty four wonderful years, Loreen. His daughter and son-in-law Jan and Bob Veck; his precious grandchildren Cody Lind, Kelsea (Logan) Pittman, Alyssa and Megan Veck; and his loving sisters Judy Van Dellen and Stella Jacobson. John was predeceased by his son Rick Lind in 2010, his eldest sister Dorothy Taylor, and his parents Anton and Dagne Lind. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Inn from the Cold Society, Suite 104, 110 – 11th Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB t2g 0x5, Telephone: (403) 263-8384, .
