Obituary of Florence Ruth MCCLURG

April 27, 1922 – August 7, 2017 Beloved wife of fifty-five years to William David (d. 2003), dear mother of David (Alison) and Diane (Marc), cherished grandmother of Caitlin (Sean), Benjamin, Meaghan, Patrick and Gillian, great-grandmother of Claire and Rose. Ruth passed peacefully in her ninety-sixth year. Born in Newmarket, Ontario, the fifth of six children, Ruth is survived by her eldest sister, Helen. She loved and was loved by many nieces and nephews. Ruth was an oft-promoted employee of the Ration Board and later a finance company, and after starting her family she was a homemaker, a nursery school teacher, a realtor, and church member. She learned early she had one path to take – forward – and she strode it with grit and determination until the end, but never at the expense of dignity, courtesy & regard for others. We remember her generous love and laughter, and her faith and courage in life’s trials. She was intelligent, loyal, beautiful and gracious to all. Our hearts are full with sorrow, gratitude and love. Memorial Services will be held at Scarboro United Church (134 Scarboro Avenue S.W.) on Sunday August 13, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Tom Melvin, Presider. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Ruth McClurg, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Crowfoot, 82 CROWFOOT CIRCLE N.W. Telephone: 403-241-0044.
