With great sadness we announce the passing of John Wimbush, beloved husband of Cathie Williams of Calgary, on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at the age of 55 years.
John’s final days were spent surrounded by family and he died peacefully at Rockyview General Hospital. John was a loving and devoted family man. He will be dearly missed by his three sons, Michael, David and John Howard Williams-Wimbush, all of Calgary; his parents, Ray and Mary Wimbush; sisters, Karen (Joe) Walter, Mary McSweeney, all of Edmonton; his in-laws, Howard and Pearl Williams, Brian (Maureen) Williams, Joanne (Lindsay) Bradwell, all of North Vancouver; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins from both families across Canada. John also leaves many dear friends and associates that have been so supportive during John’s battle with cancer.
John loved his work and the challenges it presented, he spent most of his career with Oxford Development Group and Dundee Realty, as a construction manager, director and vice-president in Western Canada. Some of the projects that he took great pride in are the Canterra Tower, Eaton Centre, Eau Claire Estates and just recently the Calgary Tower. He also served on the Safety Codes Council here in Alberta from 2001 to 2006. John’s steadfast loyalty and commitment to excellence earned him the respect and admiration of those that he worked with here in Calgary and across Canada. John was an avid golfer who loved the outdoors and taking his boys on adventures. We will all truly miss his great sense of humour, determination, generosity and quiet strength.
In accordance with John’s wishes there will be a private family service.
