My name is Dominic Tran and Mrs. De Page was my grade 1, and grade 2 teacher. As I am writing this, I find myself tearing up. Mrs De Page had a tremendous positive impact on myself and my family. We were refugees that had to escape Vietnam from war. Mrs. De Page taught and showed me love, patience, kindness and understanding.
I remember growing up, there were always questions every year about who your favourite teacher was, and for me, it was and still is Mrs. De Page. I wish she knew how much she impacted my life. My family and I are forever grateful. She taught me to love school, have a passion for learning, and inspired me to become a teacher. I am and have been a teacher for the past 14 years with Calgary Catholic. Many of my teaching practices, I find, mirrors the way she taught me. Mrs. De Page was not only an incredible teacher, but also an amazing person that made an impact on all that had the honour and privilege of knowing her. May you Rest In Peace Mrs. De Page. I really hope that your family knows the huge impact you had on me. Thank you so much for showing this Vietnamese refugee family, and especially this confused, scared refugee child so much love.
