Obituary of Howard John BAUM

February 9, 1937 – Bateman, Saskatchewan June 7, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Howie, surrounded by his family on Friday June 7. Howie was born on his grandparents’ family farm near Bateman, Saskatchewan in 1937. In addition to his loving wife, Astrid “Ozzie”, Howie is survived by his son Rick; daughters, Donna (Mike) and Cheryl (Dave) as well as five grandchildren, Justin and Brendan Ross and Jena, Sean and Eve Stewart. Howie was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He loved his family dearly and we all loved him dearly. He lived a full and happy life while achieving much success in his business career. Initially, Howie was with Marshall Wells, managing a number of stores in Western Canada. At the age of 30 he moved to the Calgary Co-op. Howie worked his way up to the position of Vice President of Marketing, where he spent 17 years before taking early retirement to travel and spend more time with family. Some of our favorite memories with Howie are on the many trips we took as an entire family during Spring Break. Howie was also a very proud and supportive parent/grandparent. He could often be found at the hockey arena, the baseball diamond, taekwondo competitions, band concerts and dance recitals.
