Condolences
As I was cleaning out a drawer, I came across a gift that Dave Rimmer gave me my first Christmas working for him at Canadian Western Natural Gas. It was a Christmas Card record book. I still use that book to this very day. I was 17 and fresh out of High School, my Mother made me go business to business downtown Calgary looking for employment. Dave gave me an interview on the spot. He asked me if I knew how to use a “”business machine” not wanting to lose the possibility of the job, I said yes of course. The business machine was nothing more than an old style push button hand crank adding machine. I will never forget the opportunity that Dave gave me. We worked together for 5 years before he retired. Dave was always kind, thoughtful, fair and considerate and I will always think of him fondly. I also knew Evelyn and all the “girls” in the blue flame kitchen. I loved always seeing the “twinkle” in the eyes of both Dave and Evelyn way back when. When I read that they had married, it warmed my heart and always will. I am sorry for the very late condolence but it is heartfelt just the same.
