Obituary of Alice Ellen Noonan

Alice Ellen (Nel) Noonan (nee Spackman) of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the age of 84 years. Nel was born in Lineham, AB and later moved with her family to Okotoks. After completing high school, Nel worked in the bank and at the Bowden Airfield during the war years. She married Robert Noonan in 1947, and they moved to Calgary where they raised their family. Nel Noonan enjoyed the outdoors and horsemanship as a young woman. Later she became very skilled at crafts, especially knitting and quilting. She won many awards for her remarkable quilts and was the Heritage Park Quilter of Distinction in 1999. “We will miss a loving Mother whose generosity and kindness extended to all who knew her.” Nel is the beloved mother of Greg (Vicki) of Duncan, BC, Mary (Barry) Carrol of Peachland, B.C., and Kathy (Gavin) Berry of Calgary. She is also grandmother to Erin, Liza, Nathan, Simon, Robert, Nicolas, and Natalie and great-grandmother to Krystafer and Coby. She was predeceased by her husband Robert; daughter Brenda Mainville; and brothers, Rey Spackman and John Spackman. Funeral Services will be held at St. Philip the Evangelist Anglican Church (629 – 49th Avenue S.W.) on Monday, April 11, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Graham S. Goode, Presider.
