Obituary of Roy John FARRAR

February 16, 1927 – Calgary, AB July 23, 2017 – Calgary, AB With profound sadness we share the passing of Roy John Farrar (Ferrari), beloved husband of June Farrar of Calgary, AB. Roy passed away on July 23, 2017 at the age of 90 years after a brief illness. Roy and June met in Longview, Alberta, married in Calgary and lived in Royalties until 1956. Roy began working with Home Oil in 1948 and remained until retirement. They had 3 boys when they got the call to move to Swan Hills from Calgary in 1962 and back to Calgary in 1969. He made friends wherever he went. Oh, the stories we can tell…. He enjoyed winemaking and taking part in many sports, such as hunting, curling, softball and golf. He was a celebrated member of the Twin Cities Oilers baseball team (1946-1955). And Roy enjoyed his family the most. This tribute does not do him justice, he gave a lot of love and was loved right back; in truth, a wonderful man. A husband, a dad, a grandfather and a friend to many, he is survived by June (nee Rutledge), his wife of 68 years; sons Robin Ferrari (Robin), Rick Ferrari (Isabel) and Drew Ferrari (Kurt); and grandchildren Amanda (Malcolm), Samantha and Madison. Roy was predeceased by his father John; mother Lea; and his brothers Alexander and Leo. A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
