Condolences
I wonder if family gets this late of a notice from this site but I hope so. My name is Heather Robertson. in the mid 1950's Max sold products traveling through my tiny home town of Harris Iowa. My mom and dad ran the hardware and plumbing business there and were customers. They continued to know Max through business for many years - long past when his job was traveling doing sales ! It was always a fun activity to go to Sioux Falls and attend the business open houses with the wonderful catering -( which I believe was from Chris's.) My parents certainly never provided enough business to mean anything towards the bottom line of Max's business but you would not have known that. When he saw my mom across the crowded showroom floor he would shout "Gladee!" and rush over to see her and my dad and it was like no one else in the place was more important. My mom would say that was so embarrassing for him to single her out but I know she liked it! After his retirement my dad stopped by the business now and then when he happened to be in Sioux Falls and was always graciously invited into the office for a visit. He would say "saw Max today and we had a good talk". And to add one personal note: I was born in 1955 and Max gave my mom and dad a pink blanket as a present. Over many years it was always "your pink blanket from Max". And remnants still remain!! Hope you do see this and know how your loved one is present in the history of people you never knew!
Mr. Pasley, I remember seeing how you swing by all franchises in Calgary everyday. You had a truly wonderful work ethic, and knowing you were coming would be restaurants call ahead to advise of your arrival. Your work ethic was enviable, and I am sure your soul went to heaven. I started at your Crowfoot Franchise (1999 July), as my first ever job and stayed till 2001 September, loved it. Learnt alot about hard work and while at times, things were hard, I have never forgotten the lessons learnt. May your soul be granted eternal peace, and unending happiness.
Wow, I only recently learned of his passing but I met Max on several occasions when i was a teen at the Glenmore landing location in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I personally had the utmost respect for him and his work ethic. When You worked their it was more than just a job - it was the stepping stones for my life/ future. His critiques, encouragement were life lessons.Although my contact with him was short, my memories are not. I hope he had a brilliant life and inspired many more people on his journey. Thank you for sharing
Mel M

Gary, Scott and families,
Our heartfelt condolences on your Dad’s recent passing. Max was a long term neighbour of my Dad, J. C. (Jack) Anderson. Dad asked that I let you know that Max was a good friend and that he is missed. Max also made a big impression on our son, Jamie, as Jamie enjoyed finding MacDonald’s certificates in his Christmas stocking courtesy of your Dad throughout his childhood.
Our warmest sympathies to you, your wives, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Max was a very unique person. Loved working for him and his family. I loved his sense of humor.
I enjoyed visiting with Max and Helen and have many great memories of what a special couple they were. May you rest in peace. Now you can catch up on all that sleep you lost from your ambitious life. You made a great impact in this world. Thanks for the opportunity of working for you and getting to know you, sweet Helen and your family. Prayers sent to all your family during this time of great loss.
Our thoughts are with you Gary, Scott and family. I did not know Max all that well, but admired him for his accomplishments. As well, working for Pasley Enterprises for many years, I gained a multitude of work and life skills of which I still rely upon to this day. On top of that I met my wife of 22 years while working at McDonald’s. Thank You Max, Rest in peace.
Gary, Scott and families, our most sincere condolences for your loss.
Max was a great man and will be sorely missed by all of you and his McDonald’s ‘family’.
I had the pleasure of working for him and both Gary and Scott at Calgary’s first store on 23 Avenue NW from 1968-1973 and when I left in 1973 as store Manage.
May you all find peace!
As I’ve stayed some what connected to many friends that I met through Mcdonalds I’ve been blessed with meeting some amazing friends to this day. I can’t say enough of my experience working with Max Pasley enterprises. The leaders and the people that I worked with are all connected to the great example max instilled in all of us. I remember being store manager and knew Max was touring and the respect we all had for the man to ensure we were on top of our game. From getting on his knees to checking out our mop bucket and closet. We all knew that we better not have to many inter salon transfers. He’d have his stack of p&l statements and knew every line of what it should be!!! He was truly the entrepreneur!!! I fondly remembered these days. I strive daily to follow his example of QSC. Thanks max for the 100k plus employees managers you’ve influence 50 yrs. to Scott and Gary sorry to here the loss of a great employer, mentor, father and grand father. Troy winget.
So sorry to hear of Max’s passing. I was part of Donlor Interiors when they worked on Max and Helen’s round house in Springbank. The house was beautiful- I loved the African Safari theme on Max’s level. He had unique but classy taste. He was a very kind and thoughtful man, I know he will be greatly missed! He leaves a wonderful legacy for his family.

Our family will always be thankful for the opportunity of knowing Max. He was a unique, kind and loving person and it was a blessing to call him our client and friend. We loved his humor and often reflect on his ambitious personality. He truly was a whirlwind of energy. We are sure he will be greatly missed, however, it is our desire and hope to reunite with him again someday in heaven. God Bless his surviving family and please know our love and prayers are with you all.
Scott, Gary and Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences. I will always remember Max as a true gentleman who was a pioneer for McDonald’s and helped pave the way for operators in the system like myself. I am grateful for his leadership. As I think back to the many Sioux Falls Co-op meetings when Max was the operator, I remember how wise he was in working with others and moving things forward. I learned a great deal from him. He was a wonderful man.
May the memories of Max give you comfort and peace in the days and years ahead.
God Bless you all,
Mike Salem

What chance does a boy have when he’s born in 1921, grows up during the Great Depression, comes of age during the Dirty Thirties and joins a land war in Europe in the 40’s? Well life is what you make of it. And Max made the most of it! Max Pasley was an extraordinary man who led an extraordinary life. No one better demonstrated the values of hard work, determination and positivity than Max.
To Gary, Scott and your families: We offer our sincerest condolences and wish you comfort in days ahead.

PS…Just to let you, I was never able to beat your high volume store! You’re still #1.
My deepest condolences go to the Pasley Family. Working with Max was always very inspirational and motivating……..R.I.P.
Max, what a legacy you left behind. You created a family through your organization. It was through touring the restaurants on a regular basis, that you built a brand of your own & set a company standard. You always gave positive feed back to the manager, and gave us a goal to achieve by getting us to out do each other. Little did you know many of the managers over the years still keep in touch with each other. We are still family. Thank you for all the conventions, fishing trips, staff functions, and advice.
Max was always available to the manager and he often closed his meeting with me with, “Is there anything I can do for you Tom?” I use this same question when I have my communication meetings with my managers. I was not always proud to work for McDonald’s, however I was always proud to work for Max Pasley Enterprises Ltd. Gary, Scott and extended family you had a great leader as a father, he created many leaders through his example. He will be truly missed. Our prayers go out to you all, in this time of grief. God bless you.
Dear Scott my deepest condoleance

His McDonalds will always keep people and especially children happy.
I never had the pleasure of meeting Max in person, but thanks to him I had a great start in the workforce at Red Deer North McDonalds, about 30 years ago. Thanks to Max, many of us teens in Red Deer had decent jobs where we learned we deserved to be respected at work, thereby teaching us to work hard and respect our jobs in return. Thank you for that start in life Max, and May you rest in peace. My prayers are with your family.
So sorry to hear of your loss. A true legend in the McDonald’s system. Over the years, I have had great respect for Max and all that he achieved in business in the US and Canada. He built a strong organization around him; with so many impactful leaders. Always one to have a great story; he always took the time to engage and discuss the current issues of the day. May he rest in peace.
