Obituary of MORIARTY MOULDS

1920 – 2017 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine, on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. Catherine Emily Beatrix Jamieson was born in Toronto, Ontario, May 7th, 1920. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Diploma in Occupational Therapy and served as a Nursing Sister during World War II. Catherine married Dr. E.J. Moriarty on September 8, 1945. They moved to Calgary where they raised their seven children; Dr. Fred (Darlene) Moriarty, Brian (Gwen) Moriarty, Nora (Norval) Horner, Burke (Patty) Moriarty, Peggy (Bruce) Gerrard, Morna (David) Brown, and Jim (Jeanine) Moriarty. All her family and her 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren will lovingly miss her. Catherine loved the cottage at Aspen Beach, Gull Lake, Alberta where every summer for the past 68 years has been spent enjoying the cabin with her family that has now expanded to over four generations. Catherine was active in many volunteer organizations in Calgary. She had a passion for researching and writing family history and has published several books on historical family members. She was predeceased by her husbands; Dr. Joe Moriarty of Calgary and by Dr. Godfrey (Jeff) Moulds of Ottawa, who was her sweetheart prior to meeting and marrying Joe. She outlived sons; Dr. Fred Moriarty and Burke Moriarty plus an only sister Muriel Page of Pittsburgh. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church with Graveside service with her urn to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the charity of your choice. The family really appreciated the very special care and attention that Mom received from the staff at the Chinook Care Centre Hospice, the Palliative Care Team and the staff at Staywell Manor.
