Condolences
Lyn, You were always the star in my heavens, even as far away as Texas. God really blessed me when he made me your little sister.
Dear Ned, Merv, Diana and Family,
We are very sorry to learn of Lyn’s passing. We send you our love and sincere condolences.
We remember Lyn’s specialty in home economics. Our first dinner cooked by Merv was “Ham Surprise”, a tasty concoction of ham and pineapple. This was one of the recipes in the Cooking 101 Cookbook she produced for Merv when he left home for university. Lyn, ever the thoughtful and practical mother, made certain that Merv was grounded in the culinary arts for which we are eternally grateful!
With deep sympathy,
Joe and Leeme Coutts
Lyn was a long-standing and valued member of the Junior League of Calgary. She contributed to her community in so many ways over many, many years. We will miss her.
We extend our sincerest condolences to all of Lyn’s family.
Lyn was an accomplished, educated, sensitive, classy, beautiful lady. It was wonderful to grow up across the street in Britannia from the Gilbert family; and I will cherish times spent with Lyn. She was an exceptional host, mother and companion to Ned (nearly 70 years of marriage). Sometimes Lyn would give one-on-one ‘life lessons’, meaningful and meant to steer young people in the right direction. As Lyn got older in years, her beauty continued and became more internal in the way she cared about others. She was attentive, kind, and amazing. She will be deeply missed: my deep condolences to Ned, Merv, & Diana.
On behalf of the Macpherson family, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to Ned and Mervyn and the rest of the family on Lyn’s passing. Though we didn’t know her well (Don’s cousin), she was a part of our extended family and she will be fondly remembered.
Lyn bravely ventured down the Elbow River during spring flood one year – a brave woman to get into a canoe with me and Ned. We successfully navigated the wonderful little river from their condo near 4th Street in Calgary down to Fort Calgary. I can still hear her laughing….
A good friend to so many people, she is missed.
Dear Ned and family: Lyn was a wonderful woman. I had the privilege of working with her at FWJ at the start of my career. She generously shared so much knowledge with me and our colleagues. Even though many of us were young and naive, she never let on that we might not already know everything there was to know about public relations! She was professional, always gracious and kind. She was respected.
How lucky I was to have such a role model.
Dear Ned,
We were sorry to hear of Lyn’s passing. I hope you take comfort that her suffering has ended and that you will meet again in heaven. Lyn had a long and productive life. She was a devoted wife, mother, family and community member. Don and I always enjoyed sharing time and events with you both. The Lord bless and keep you, Ned.
Janice and Don Sigston
Always liked her. Sorry for her passing and her family’s sorrow.
I think so fondly of Lyn. She was always thoughtful and sincerely interested in each of us and our children. She had a lovely warmth and sense of humour. She was a dear life like long friend to her Coronation Drive neighbours. Those friendships are a wonderful example for those of us in the following generations. Love to Ned and Merv and Diana
