Obituary of Barry DARCY

December 1, 1941 – Saskatoon, SK March 14, 2017 – Okotoks, AB With some regret and with some sadness, I wish to announce that I have moved on. I “moved on” many times in my life, had many very interesting jobs and met many wonderful people, learning a lot about life in the process. I was able to travel the world, from the time I was a “pup” until now. By far, the happiest times of my life have been with the loves of my life…48 years with my incredible wife Janet, and delightful years with my beautiful “ray of sunshine” granddaughter, Julia. Unforgettable experiences with my son Ryan and great times with our “inherited” dog, Jack have made me “proud to be dad”. Without them, I am sure you would have been reading this much sooner. I do wish to thank, with all my heart, all my friends, relatives and neighbours, who were always ready to help with both physical and mental support and encouragement. I can also not say enough about the hard working, dedicated and just plain wonderful doctors, nurses and staff and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. Special gratitude to Dr. Ball, Dr. Ruether, Dr. Pickering, and especially to my personal doctor, Dr. Chi. I have requested that no service or memorial be held. Stand instead on a hill…as the sun sets, and marvel in the sky, the wind against your skin, and the beauty of the living land around you. I tried to capture some of that in my paintings…I wish I could have done more. I thank you all for the life you gave me. It was good. Barry also leaves behind his dear sister Sandra (Ed); brother, Rob (Travis); dear cousins, sister and brothers-in-law and their families, as well as Julia’s mother and extended Boszormenyi family. A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Foothills Country Hospice Society that gave Barry exceptional, compassionate care. P.O.
