Condolences
My deepest sympathy to Lorna and family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Lorna, you might not remember me but we worked together at Gulf Canada in the Accounts Payable department while you were there. Please give me a call and we can talk about the good old days. Take care and May God Bless.
My deepest sympathy to Wandas family ( which she was very close too) I was shocked to hear the news of her passing! Wanda was a great supporter of the Union and also me as Chairperson of Staff Association. Wanda loved “her” kids that she worked with in the Calgary Board of Education! My fondest memory of Wanda was when went down to Newfoundland and as the saying goes ” what happened in Newfoundland stays in Newlandland”. Rest in peace my friend!
A couple of years ago, I asked the girls for us all to get together and go tobogganing, as we were all in our 60’s, and you don’t know what the future will hold , Life has a way of happening, when you least expect it, and before you know it, some of us would be missing.
So we went tobogganing, with metal strainers on our heads for safety helmets, extra padding on our bottoms, and sheer determination.
We had a wonderful day, people stopped to stare, and for a long while, we were all here to talk about it, now sadly we are not, Oh,how we will Miss you , Our Wanda!
I was very sad to hear of Wanda’s passing. She worked at Acadia School with many of our special needs students. She was dedicated to helping any and all students.
I am so sorry for her loss.
Everyone who knew Wanda at the Calgary Board of Education will miss her. Wanda cared for students and co-workers and showed it with the extra energy and effort she put into her work. My condolences to her family.
I am sadden to hear of Wanda’s passing. She was a wonderful and kind lady. I worked with her at Staff Association for many years. She was always ready to help without question. I remember our trip on Union business to Halifax. Both of us were not good fliers and any little thing out of the ordinary caused us both to panic. We had a terrible time with landing during a rain storm. On one of the attempt the pilot pulled out of landing and the plane shot straight up in the air. Wanda grabbed my arm and let out a blood curling scream. We laughed about it later but at the time it was so scarcely. Wanda’s sense of humour was something I remember most about her. On the same trip to Halifax she turned blank faced and asked You do know how to use a Epee pen as I am allergic to seafood. I looked at her and said sure I do not knowing a thing about them. I did find out how to use it and luckily never had to use it. Wanda was a great family person, friend and co worker. She will be missed terrible. Rest in peace my dear friend. Prayers and thoughts are with your family.
I was terribly upset when I heard about Wanda’s passing. I meet her when she joined the Staff Association. We became very good friends over that time. She worked very hard for all staff members through out the board, but of course she knew more about the Ed Assistants as that was her job, and she loved all “HER” kids at the schools. Because of health reasons on my side, I was not able to make lunch appointments that we had set up. I am now regretting not making the effort. She was such a good friend who I could laugh, or cry with. My deepest condolences to her family. To her mom and brothers my thoughts are with you at this time.

I had the privilege of working with Wanda at both Christine Meikle and Acadia School. She was compassionate about her job and always gave it her all. She also had a funny personality and if you gave her a hard time, she would look at you and jokingly say “have you been told yet today?” Will miss you dearly. My deepest condolences to her family and closest friends.

I had the privilege of working withWanda at Christine Meikle, she was a wonderful person- co- worker and friend. She worked so hard with our students as well as our union ,always making sure everyone was treated fairly, she was never afraid to say what she felt was wrong or right in any situation!!! She made me feel strong, made me feel important, made me feel like I belonged !! My family and I will greatly miss her. Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family and friends.
My heartfelt condolences to Wanda’s family. She was very proud of all of you. Wanda was very involved with Staff Association and representing members was very important to her. She would always jump in when there was something to do, Convention, a strike, negotiations. I will miss her dry sense of humour. RIP Wanda
