Condolences
We met Jake and Roberta in 1976 when we moved to Calgary and became neighbours and best friends. Jake and I shared many things but mainly our love of music and we spent many hours jamming and performing together. Jake will always be remembered for his sincerity and his humility. My condolences to Beverley and Brent and their families.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jakes’ family and friends at their shared loss. My husband Les & I were privileged to be next door neighbors (southside-white house) to Roberta & Jake since 2004. We visited over the fence many a time, and remember fondly a time Jake invited us to have tea after Roberta was gone. He happily shared an oolong tea his daughter had given him that he really enjoyed.
As my wife said, Jake and Roberta were good neighbours. Many times he and I would help each other out with snow shoveling or hedge trimming. When ever he saw me over the fence, he would come over to it and call out ‘hey guy’, and we would chat a few minutes.
With regret we were unable to attend the service, as we were both fighting a nasty virus at the time. We will always remember our wonderful neighbors, Jake & Roberta, and will consider ourselves fortunate if our new neighbors are half as kind as they! May Jakes’ family feel Gods’ comfort & strength at this time of loss, and may Jake rest in peace.
